Tomorrow, desert disco/glam-a-billy band KOLARS
are releasing their debut self-titled album, but you can hear it ahead of its release right here. Made up of Rob Kolar and Lauren Brown, former members of He's My Brother She's My Sister, the band makes fuzzy, danceable music that melodically resembles Hamilton Leithauser and even Ryan Gosling's Dead Man's Bones at times. "Turn Out The Lights" is a seductive slow burner compared to the upbeat opener "One More Thrill," which is about having one more adrenaline rush before life comes to an end. The production is clear and dynamic and the music is captivating and downright fun. The album will be out everywhere tomorrow on April 7th.
The band talked to us a little bit about the song, "Hello humans of the planet Earth! This is our debut album as KOLARS. Musically the sound ranges from glam inspired blues anthems to rockabilly tinged disco raves to wistful desert pop singalongs. We produced and mixed the album ourselves in our Echo Park home and are thrilled to get it the F out there in the world. Thanks for listening."
