As a child of the 90s, it's hard to overstate just how important grunge was in my life. To this day, I still have epic debates with friends over the artistic merits of
Ten versus
Nevermind or whether Kim Thayil or Mike McCready was the better guitarist. The 90s are over though, and grunge's heyday is long past.
Soundgarden don't care about that fact and have reuinted with an impending release of their first album of new material in over 15 years. They've contributed a song to the forthcoming
Avengers soundtrack, "Live to Rise," which is pretty classic Soundgarden. They're playing the exact same Led Zeppelin via the Butthole Surfers rock they were playing 20 years ago, but for some of us, that isn't a bad thing.
