Cake take a stab at the sharply-edged-monkey-town themed music video reminiscent of
Gorillaz style animation in their new video for "Long Time". They also add some comically endearing monkeys of their own, who may have come across one of the sinister worlds that you enter through the holiday tree in
Nightmare Before Christmas. There are all sorts of ominous shenanigans taking place in this video for "Long Time", including chase scenes, monkey outlaws, and crow-surrounded trees full of falling apples. It takes some mild concentration to follow the video's events, but all I know is I'm rooting for the monkey.
The clear video game quality of "Long Time" is explained, as it was created by a Parisian CGI group, Callicore Films. It embraces grey scale expressed sadness, and though there are various horns featured on the track, the dark tone of the vocals and remaining musical elements are what primarily drive the mournful vision for the music video.
