Nowadays, it's rare for me to talk about a band that is clearly influenced by Amnesiac
-era Radiohead. It's even more rare (read: I don't think I've ever done this) for me to talk about that period of Radiohead influencing a band that is also clearly wearing some orchestral chamber pop Beach Boys influences. Yet, OWEL
exists; they meet those two standards; and here we are.
We're premiering the Every Good Boy
EP from Jersey alt-rockers OWEL today, and it's a gorgeous and dynamic mix of chamber rock, textured spaced-out alt rock, and pop hooks that know how clever they are without needing to draw undue attention to themselves. Whether it's tracks like "Every Good Boy Does Fine," "Razors," or "Flying Man," OWEL combines an arena ready sound with the perfect dose of understatement.
You can pre-order the album here
which comes out tomorrow on intheclouds Records.
