There's a modest creek that runs through Eau Claire, Wisconsin, hometown of Bon Iver, S. Carey, and newcomer Field Report. The magic creek blesses all who drink its water with serene melancholy and golden vocal chords, then the singers float down unto the rest of the world to enchant us with their woodland hymns. Longtime creek drinker Christopher Porterfield, who played lap steel with Justin Vernon's old group DeYarmond Edison, is ready to serenade us once again with his new group Field Report. The band's debut album, which is apparently the product of six years of work, is due out in July and was in Bon Iver's local April Base studios.

The song is beautifully hinged upon Christopher Porterfield's fragile voice, and the ethereal steel guitars that he's used throughout his career, with DeYarmond Edison, his last band Conrad Plymouth, and this project. The chorus's lyrical repetition, "A bird in the hand is worthless if you're too scared" is motivating in the end, paired with Porterfield's Vernon-esque building bellowing.
