Last week, the second season of Better Call Saul
, Vince Gilligan's prequel series to Breaking Bad
, came to a close. And if there's one thing that the BCS
crew have taught us besides the fact that Bob Odenkirk might be an even better dramatic actor than a comedic one is that there are few American images more iconic than the great sweep of our deserts and plains...a fact that we as a nation have seemed to forget in a post-John Ford world. But alternative rocker The Rocket Summer
gets it in a gorgeous new acoustic video.
We have the exclusive premiere of a live acoustic video performance of the Rocket Summer's "FL, CA" performed roadside in the middle of the desert in Marfa, Texas. Off of The Rocket Summer's last record, Zoetic
, the track is a Jack's Mannequin-esque anthem about a mutually self-destructive relationship but the stripped down acoustic take of the track remains all of its emotional intimacy and pairs it with the natural grandeur of the American West.
And dig this quote from The Rocket Summer's Bryce Avary about the video: "On our way to the first show of the Zoetic tour, we passed through one of my favorite towns in my native state of TX, Marfa. This eclectic desert town in west Texas has an artistic pulse that I resonate with and I always love visiting. So on a whim, I decided to pull over, grab an acoustic and sing a song... because that's what I do and why not to an audience of cows and tumbleweeds."
