Mt. Desolation is a new collective, comprised of musicians from The Killers, Mumford and Sons, Keane, Noah and the Whale, and The Long Winters.
Paste leaked info on the group earlier this year but as
TwentyFourBit reports, it was a rogue tweet from John Roderick, lead-singer of The Long Winters. It mentioned the side-project by name but failed to provide (the then-unknown) details, like the involvement of Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci and 10 others from various notable groups. They've all teamed up with bandleaders Tim Rice-Oxley and Jesse Quin of Keane, and are in the process of finishing an "alt-country" record together. More info, plus pictures and videos from the recording sessions, can be found on the
Mt. Desolation blog.
The band has announced a debut gig in London on 6/4. Those of us living in the states will have to wait until they jump the pond, or release some recorded material. Mixing starts on Monday according to the blog.
