Considering what dubstep means in modern American electronic music (Skrillex, Rusko, Bassnectar), it's always refreshing to reflect back on a time when dubstep wasn't "brostep" and instead had its roots in 2-Step Garage. Go listen to Untrue by Burial and you'll see what I mean. Peaking Lights are a promising new outfit in the increasingly fractured dub market and they've brought their chill and tranquil vision of dub in the promising subgenre of dub-pop. Their new single "LO HI" is a psychedelic wave of basses, pitch-shifted vocals, and the oddly pleasant cooing of an infant. If you need to put on a song to wash away your daily troubles, this seven minute track is the aural equivalent of xanax.
