What happens when you take the classic rock blues riffs of Jimmy Page and the modern garage of Jack White? You get plenty of people in the burgeoning garage rock revival movement led by the Black Keys and their ilk. However, what happens when you add lyrics with cryptic and ambitious literary undertones that hint at someone intimately familiar with The Bell Jar and Infinite Jest. Then, you get something a little more unique that manages to stand out from the over-saturated garage rock/classic rock revival crowd. You get L.A. trio Beware of Darkness which has the chance to help further evolve and mature the direction of modern garage rock.



We're going to be rolling out our exclusive premiere of three Beware of Darkness singles over the next three days, and the first single, "Culture Bomb," is a doozy. With apocalyptic imagery and an angry edict against the woes of the world, Beware of Darkness fuses their finger-blisting guitar work (as well as their excellent drumming which recalls Neal Peart) with lyricism that would have been just as impressive from the National's Matt Berninger. In a world where so many of the garage rock bands are beginning to blur and melt in our minds, Beware of Darkness manages to chart their own path.
