4AD) provides a perfect visual companion piece to the themes that string through "Actor Out of Work". Here SV plays the hard-shelled casting director, demanding those auditioning before her show a little slice of emotion. Just a hunch of course, but I'm guessing our dear lady's suggesting there may be something unauthentic or counterfeit about the emotions she's addressing in this tune. -
