Last month, singer-songwriter Craig Finn
released his latest album, We All Want The Same Things
, so in celebration of that, we're throwing it back to our very unique session where we paired Finn with legendary guitarist G.E. Smith
Craig Finn is the frontman of the Brooklyn-based rock band The Hold Steady
, and at the time of this session, he was gearing up to release his debut solo record, Clear Heart Full Eyes...
Fast forward a few years and now he has four solo records under his belt. His solo project tends to be a bit more lyric-heavy, more somber, and judging by his consistent output, it looks like it worked out pretty damn well. When we paired the two rockers together, it was nothing but magic. Finn's storytelling and imagery accented by Smith's detailed guitar work is amazing to watch - it almost makes you wish they'd continue performing as a duo. While you're enjoying Finn's nostalgic, heart-wrenching songs like "God in Chicago" and "It Hits When It Hits" off of his new album, also make sure to revisit this brilliant session, because you're not going to find a one-of-a-kind collaboration like this anywhere else.
