Andrew Bird released a gritty new video for a song titled "Capsized" today, and it's full of deep sepia hues to provide that Western, bluesy feel, as Bird traipses through empty, nameless streets and gets juxtaposed in dark, abandoned theaters, jamming out under sharp stage lights, in between which he wanders around trying to evade the spotlight that seems to be haunting him.
At the beginning of the song, during the intense string section intro, Bird levitates out of his bed just like Bowie did in his "Lazarus" music video, providing a nice little shout-out to Ziggy Stardust. It's a very dark and gritty music video that suits the slick nature of Bird's bluesy melodies, between the spacey string sections, toned-down and watery guitars, and sweeping lead guitar interjections.
Not only was the music video released today, but so was the album, Are You Serious, for which "Capsized" serves as the opener on an album packed with dynamic, cinematic western riffs that are catchy as all hell.
