Ex-Port O'Brien co-leader Van Pierszalowski seems to have found his calling in nautica. His former band based its content on real life sea experiences (seasperiences), and put the tales to jaunty rhythmic sing-alongs. Pierszalowski's new solo project, WATERS, sticks with the same themes but takes them to a bash-your-brains Noise Rock level, and the product is pretty much awesome. Bone crushing drums and a wall of distorted guitar sound back up upbeat melodic vocals and really catchy choruses. WATERS sounds at times like jangly guitar pop that's been sped up and fed through a giant Marshall stack.
