The latest track from DJ/producer RJD2 is a little preview of what's to come on the upcoming album Dame Fortune. Between the chiming, spacey melodies of piano and synths, soulful backing vocals, and a booming hip-hop beat, "We Come Alive" (feat. Son Little) has a more vintage and Motown sort of sound than much of RJD2's prior works, showcasing his abilities to provide super smooth backing tracks that can fit certain voices all too well.
Son Little's guest spot on vocals was a great choice by the Philly producer. His wide vocal range and general knack for having a great soul music voice lends a lot to the very immersive experience of RJD2's seamless mix. A quick listen to the track shows that the producer seems to have heavily invested in finding a mix that deeply aligns with Son Little's stylistic essence, complete with lovely instrumental niches and a more jazzy side of soul that in many ways seems to push Son Little to adapt to a very upbeat, drum-driven, and punchy soul song.
And if you enjoyed Son Little's feature on this track, keep your ears to the ground because we'll have a session with this exciting, emerging artist going live on the site in the weeks to come.
