Muse Hits a New Low

Oh, Muse. Sometimes, bands overstay their welcome so long that they become sad parodies of themselves, and if Muse hadn't already reached that point with the dubstep excess of The 2nd Law, their prog-lite/Coldplay wannabe fusion schtick has reached self-satire with their latest single "Dead Inside."

No, that isn't the the name of your high school's biggest Cure fan's new memoir. It's the name of an actual song by a major arena rock band. And the song's angst and political preening is as shallow as its title. Throw in the cliche lyric video full of James Bond kaleidoscopic visuals and unnecessary, gratuitous nudity, and it's clear that things have only continued to go downhill for Muse. That's a shame. "Knights of Cydonia" was pretty fun on Guitar Hero when I was in high school.
