pushes the envelope, but she's got the raw talent to back it up. The English songstress has produced the latest of her status-quo-defying videos as an entry for the YouTube Music Awards
, and it's absolutely bizarre.
Viewers are greeted by a pregnant FKA Twigs in an ominous forest grabbing at her nether-region, eventually birthing a multi-colored length of sheer scarf. The visuals certainly allow for a nice, deep read, but I found the video as a whole to be a bit disjointed and approaching mere shock-value territory. The lack of a narrative is irritating; she starts pregnant, her scarf baby envelopes random people in the woods, cut to fashion-show/ Zoolander style walk-off
. It definitely holds your attention, and FKA Twigs shows off her chops from her days as a background dancer, but it seems weird just for the sake of grabbing attention. That being said, she did direct the video herself, an impressive feat for an already well-known artist.
