Despite some of the critical eyes our young intern has for post-punk, something tells me he will really dig the unbridled energy of this latest buzz band to pop up out of Brooklyn. Nothing says "let's mosh" like a band that describes their sound as high-five-ing each other over and over. No false claims here,

Fang Island (Jason Bartell, Michael Jacober, Nicholas Andrew Sadler, Chris Georges, and Marc St. Sauveur) formed when the guys met while attending the Rhode Island School Of Design. It's the same origin story of bands like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Les Savvy Fav, Six Finger Satellite, and of course, Talking Heads (good company). The fledgling punk act has already secured love from such admirable sources as Pitchfork, Stereogum, and their new home on Matador Records. Catch their guitar pyrotechnics at SXSW: 3/19 at Habana Calle 6, or 3/20 at Club Primos. Bring a change of pants.
Matador will put out Fang Island's self-titled debut on 4/6. -
