Last summer, I was privy to three pretty fantastic evenings at the Brooklyn Bowl where we shot showcases that were sponsored by Cutty Sark whiskey. The final one of these showcases was headlined by psychedelic rock act Ghost of a Sabretooth Tiger (aka the project of Sean Lennon). If you were into psychedelic jams in the slightest, it was a heck of an evening and I highly recommend digging into our concert (which is embedded below). I've been curious what Sean has been up to in the last year and the answer is: forming a new project with legendary Primus bassist Les Claypool.
Sean's new band with Les Claypool, the Claypool Lennon Delirium, are going on tour this summer (I'm definitely trying to catch them at Bonnaroo in April), and they'll be releasing an album, The Monolith of Phobos, later this year. And they've shared their first official single, "Mr. Wright." And it is a jittery, frenetic bit of bass-driven acid rock, and I think it's safe to say we're officially hyped for this pairing.
