Nice, new Shins video. Let's kick back and press play: Okay, good. It's set in Portland. Okay, good. Log cabin, looks comfortable. Wait, this isn't right, I'm feeling like getting out of bed. Am I... supposed to... dance to this? Egad, James Mercer you naughty strumpet! This is indie music!

Okay, maybe no one thought that exactly, but this does sound like a nice departure from the Shins' last decade of work. Watch the new video for "Bait and Switch," the latest single off of The Shins' forthcoming record, Port of Morrow. The updated line-up gives a great feel to this song, and it's good to see the video focusing on the live performance, and introducing the new band members. It's less of a concept than "Simple Song", but still just as good. Mercer sings on the single, "A creature of habit has no real protection." Maybe with this newer sound, Mercer is taking those lyrics to heart.

Port of Morrow is out 3/20 via Mercer's own label, Aural Apothecary. Check out their North American and European tour dates after the video.
