So in what could either be the biggest shade tossing or compliment of all time, auto-tune obsessed Atlanta weirdo Young Thug has announced that he is still planning on naming his next album Tha Carter 6 in continuation of Lil Wayne's legendary Tha Carter series. Except... there is a major problem in the way. Weezy's Tha Carter 5 has yet to see the light of day. Wayne is currently embroiled in a major legal battle with Cash Money Records CEO Birdman over the fact that he won't release the album. Wayne claims he is being held hostage and is suing his former "Daddy" for over $50 million.
Thugger had previously announced he wanted to continue the series in honor of his hero Wayne after the series ended with Tha Carter 5; however, with the album potentially never coming out, one might wonder why Young Thug would want to go this route at all. My best guess is that Birdman, who has taken a liking to Young Thug and added him to his Rich Gang collective, wants to get back at Wayne for this court battle and public disrespect. Either way, the whole situation looks shady. Young Thug may not be the best rapper, but he's got some originality. Even with Wayne's blessing, naming your album Tha Carter 6 is just plain dumb. If his Instagram is to believed, Thug is definitely not slowing down on his plans. I'll put the blame on Birdman tempting Thugger with riches and his own spot in the pantheon of hip-hop greatness. Either way, I hope Wayne sues this guy too for copyright infringement. Wayne may not be the artist he use to be, but he should be the only one in control of the series he created.
Check out "Lifestyle" by Rich Gang below, which may as well be a Young Thug solo song and stay tuned for Weezy's response on the topic.
