Alt-country mainstay Rhett Miller has been making music on his own, and with his band The Old 97's for over twenty years now. His music combines the stories and instrumentation of country music with alternative rock sensibility, sounding at times like a combination of Johnny Cash and Nada Surf. Miller's unmistakable voice comes through loud and clear on songs like "I Need To Know Where I Stand" and "Our Love."

His obvious talent and longevity in the music business has caused collaborations with other great songwriters like Leonard Cohen, Ben Kweller and producer Jon Brion. Miller's last album was a collection of live covers, titled The Interpreter, Live At Largo. The record features songs like Bowie's Queen Bitch and Pixies' Wave of Mutilation, which features Pixies guitarist Joey Santiago.
