If you were born around the same time as me, you know Reptar as a strange green dinosaur in the Nickelodeon show Rugrats, or maybe as lyrical fodder for one Tyler, the Creator. I have one better than either of those: here's Reptar, the band. The bluesy, squeaky electro-rock group says on their website, "Reptar likes to first and foremost make people dance," and that purpose is clear from the first seconds of songs like "Rainbounce" and "Blast Off." From Athens, GA, the five-piece has the same upbeat rhythms of bands like Vampire Weekend and MGMT, while maintaining their own unique style of electronica and bashing rock enthusiasm. Lead-man Graham Ulicny sings his weird brains out in a way that's reminiscent of David Byrne's hyper-articulation as well as the raspy yelp of Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock.

Reptar is releasing their first full length album, Body Faucet, on May 1st via Vagrant Records. But to hold you over until then, check out their EP with the awesome title Oblangle Fizz Y'all. They will also be touring out of their minds this Spring all around the U.S, making stops at South By Southwest and Sasquatch Music Festival.
