Some stray thoughts about Lady Gaga's new video for "Telephone" featuring Beyonce.
"I knew that was what women's prison was like."
"Lady Gaga does a lot of f**king drugs."
Before you click through to check it out, we warn you its NSFW. Not safe for work in the sense that there's profanity and minor nudity, but also not safe for work because if your co-workers saw you watching it they'd probably ask you, "what in GOD'S name are you looking at?"
If you haven't seen the video yet, it's 9 and a half minutes long, a lot of it happens in prison, the P*ssy Wagon from Kill Bill is in it, and Beyonce kills Tyrese Gibson. Basically, I'm not even sure where to begin. It's just so insane.
And as much as it gives you a contact high, it's also actually a cool idea. Why not make a 10-minute short film that celebrates how ridiculous you are. At least, as far as pop music mini-movies go, it's better than Spike Jonze and Kanye West's "We Were Once A Fairytale".
Plus, the buzz Lady Gaga's video for "Telephone" was generating before it even aired was outrageous. Pro-Gaga blogs and twitterers were leaking stills months before. At this point it seems like Lady Gaga's trying to get to that ultra-fame level, and if that makes this her "Thriller" than I am all for it. It's rare you get a singer like Lady Gaga that really gets the camp of it all.
