Sugar, spice, and everything nice mixed with headbanging metal! Whoever said choreographed dance routines and Japanese idol-pop couldn't mash with thrash metal? Talk about rocking the boat and working on a killer level; the band known as Babymetal
might possibly change the world and metal may have just found its savior.
Seriously, Babymetal includes three-teenage girls from Japan singing and dancing in the style of Japanese pop over a brutal backdrop of metal reminiscent of Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, and Testament. Sprinkle in the larger-than-life power metal harmonies of Dragonforce and Primal Fear, Babymetal's latest video "Gimmie Chocolate!!" has already hit its viral stride. Dazzled in black attire and red skirts, the girls look fiercely metal even with the unwavering happiness in their harmonies.
Even with the group singing in their fluent language, it's heard to deny some sort of it-factor after watching "Gimmie Chocolate!!" In the eyes of casual American audiences, this group might seem odd but the band's self-titled debut album just landed atop the iTunes Rock Charts. We're totally into it.
