  • new music video: fleet foxes
The beloved Seattle based band, Fleet Foxes, have released a new music video for the song "Grown Ocean" off of their upcoming album Helplessness Blues. The song definitely caters to the more folksy side of their sound, while the video enhances the self-described psychedelic aspect of their work. The clips in the video review a montage of footage they took during the filming of Helplessness Blues, which will be released on May 3rd, and if this video doesn't make you want to pursue a tundra-land adventure whilst wearing wooly sweaters, then I don't know what will.
  • new music video: the national
Nothing like a little batch of outtakes to go with an original National-penned song. Add guest vocals by GA visitor Sharon Van Etten and it's win-win-win. Speaking of which, Win Win is a movie starring Paul Giamatti, and the original tune "Think You Can Wait" was constructed by Berninger and the boys for the soundtrack. See an original video of them and Sharon performing, cut in with scenes from the movie (including a few blooper moments).
  • new music video: the lonely forest
Baeble favs The Lonely Forest fired off their second album Arrows on Chris Walla's new label Trans Records last week. A spectacular collection of well devised vocal melodies, soaring electric fret work, and open-ended storytelling, the album (like our somewhat recent Guest Apartment Session) is an exceptional showcase of one of the most promising young bands out there. Now the band have dropped some somewhat gloomy visuals that help explain why the forests in their native Washington State might be so lonely: Because they murder children!
  • the roundup: our five favorite videos from the week that was
Navigating through the cavernous depths of music blogs for video content that diverges away from the frightful trends (ie Ms. Black) is a daunting task. Here at Baeble, we consider ourselves professional stumblers, and our goal is to alleviate your surfing anxiety. After a brief hiatus (sorry, we took a Texas holiday), our Roundup is back in action. Our latest collection of grandeur includes a video by Fleet Foxes, which unfortunately fuels the insatiable desires for their upcoming release. Chk Chk Chk's Nic Offer gets his Beck on at a SXSW barbeque, and The Dodos partner their percussive muscle with bare knuckle beat downs in "Black Night". Craig Finn assists The Mountain Goats at Bowery Ballroom, and Fitz and The Tantrums seal the deal with a video for the infectiously catchy "Money Grabber".
  • new music video: mixel pixel
Borrowing stylistic odes to Pee Wees playhouse and Robot Chicken, Mixel Pixel unleash their latest batch of techni colored indie pop in the form of this video for "Haze for Days". Directed by Lindsay Kovnat.
  • late night: the gaslight anthem
We've got a love/hate relationship with New Jersey (love the Boss, hate Sammi Sweetheart, love Liberty State Park, hate the Jersey Turnpike), but The Gaslight Anthem and their fist-pumping bar-tunes are one of those things we love. Watch them jangle their way through "Bring It On" last night on Kimmel.
  • new music video: dirty beaches
Earlier this week our own Matt Howard gave you the scoop on his new infatuation with a globe trotting, lounge lizard named Alex Hungtai, and his strange musical output under the name Dirty Beaches. Now we spice things up with some grainy, black and white visuals, courtesy of this video for "Lord Knows Best".
  • new music video: seven saturdays (teen daze remix)
Seven Saturdays is the name by which Jonathan Haskell floats his slow blooming, instrumental compositions to the public... most notably in the form of his 7 song debut, The Snowflakes That Hit Us Became Our Stars. Like a wealth of mostly electronic endeavors, the record was ripe for a remix...or six in the form of the Secret Things EP. Teen Daze, who I last remember getting their mits on a pretty righteous Local Natives track, give Saturday's "True Romance" a whirl, pairing Benjamin Gauvain Hoste directed visuals along with the revved up version of the track.
  • new music: work drugs
This week, Baeble is excited to introduce you to Work Drugs, the group that calls themselves "Philadelphia's premier Bat Mitzvah and Quinceanera party band", according to their website. The three member band made up of Benjamin Louisiana, Thomas Crystal, and Joan Wellfleet throw together calming beats that would be great lava lamp theme song music, or perfect for your Seth Cohen inspired contemplative boat trip to Tahiti. On April 1st, the band will be releasing a double album debut in the form of Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn. In anticipation to this release, we are providing an mp3 stream and a couple of music videos from the band for you all to check out.
  • watch: craig finn performs with the mountain goats
Concertgoers at the New York City show for The Mountain Goats at Bowery Ballroom received a treat as The Hold Steady frontman, Craig Finn, took to the stage and performed with the band. Finn lended his vocals alongside The Mountain Goats' lead singer John Darnielle for the song "This Year" off of their 2005 studio album, The Sunset Tree. The energy of live music is rarely so tangible than when it is captured in true front row fashion, so check out a fan-recorded video from the actual crowd to take a passionate, unedited look at the on-stage collaboration.
  • late night: panic! at the disco
During their visit to Conan last night, Panic! At The Disco depart from the circus-inspired presentation that they have become famous for in the past, and instead dressed themselves up in fitted suits and suspenders. The band played their new single, "Mona Lisa", off of their third studio album Vices and Virtues, which was released on March 22nd. This is the first album that the band has released following the departure of their bandmates Ryan Ross and Jon Walker. As Ross was a major contributer to the lyrical direction of the band, fans had been worried that the songs may face dramatic change, but this performance seems to present a promising loyalty to the intriguing sound that Panic! At The Disco fans originally fell in love with, even if it means less eyeliner.
