A repost, but a sentiment we think deserves to be reinforced as we close the book on what was a banner year for Baeble. From interns to international pop stars; we wouldnt have had the opportunity to produce what we feel is some of the most exciting content on the web without the professional contributions of a wide variety of people.

There is also you. After all, none of this would be possible without the enthusiastic following weve been building these last few years. We can't thank you enough for watching our videos, reading our articles, and sharing every bit of it with your friends in the process. It's because of your contributions that we're so wide eyed and excited about the brand new opportunities 2011 will no doubt bring with it.

So it's with this poignant note of gratitude from our CEO David Moffly that we say goodbye to 2010, and usher in an exciting new year of unique, on demand music video entertainment on the web.

They're multiplying, these fabulous yet freaky females of pop. Navigating the more adventurous outskirts of the genre, Florence and the Machine and Robyn are currently enjoying an interesting flirtation with the mainstream. Lykke Li could follow later this winter with a highly anticipated sophomore album, Wounded Rhymes. Behind this trio, another crop of provocative up and comers lies in wait. Glasser and Oh Land come to mind, courtesy of the odd, electronic pastiches they cloak their music in. Come early 2012, expect to see another name to surface; Brooklyn's Lia Ices.

So, the end of the semester compels me to leave my post as an intern at Baeble... I'm not great with mushy goodbyes so instead, I figured I'd end my time here with a last post about something TOTALLY F&*KING EPIC (and before you stop reading, its NOT about Kanye's Runaway).

We're never one to say nay to Yeasayerespecially when the band is fleshing out their skittish, neo-futuristic creations for a crowd all too happy to lose their minds for the best band Brooklyn has to offer right now (yupits true). You remember the record release soiree we captured in the bands home borough last winter, dont you? It was one of our best concert vids of the year, capturing the band at what was essentially their launching point for a very busy 2010.

Lo-fi croonies Banjo or Freakout released a new single two weeks ago. It's an appetizer (and to be included with) their forthcoming album, due out in early '11 on Rough Trade. Grab the track below.

Some more end-of-the-year freebies to call to your attention; this time beamed from whatever weird, extravagant world Klaxons currently inhabit (um, Englandmaybe?). Titled the Landmarks of Lunacy EP, the psychedelic rockers recently compiled a five-pack of unreleased songs on their website, feeling sort of sappy about the set in the process. Well let the band explain.

At this point, former shoe factory worker Ray LaMontagne has solidified his spot in the canon of great American songwriters, a place he probably never thought he would find himself after first picking up a guitar with a penchant for bluesy folk and a loose idea of how to sing. His live EP, Live - Fall 2010, even just in name, captures a bit of the simple honesty that makes Americana twang a bit more sympathetic even with the adventurous ear of 2010. LaMontagne spins a new mythology in the genre. His songs, from the now-standard melody of "Trouble" to the tunes found here, all feel too timeless, too real to be a product of the world we live in today, but that's part of the magic.

Despite its geographically suggestive handle, The Russian Apartments is neither a Stalingrad based film nor a Goldeneye map. It's singer/songwriter Michael Caulfield, as he explores his preoccupations with 1980s music and "psych/ghost" (his words, but there is no better way to describe it). Including a rotating cast of musician all based in his hometown of Keen, NH, The Russian Apartments is a continually inventive collection of singles and EPs.

Multi-instrumental virtuoso Owen Pallett hid a little slice of digital bliss underneath the christmas tree earlier this week. Export, an 8 song EP of demos, covers, instrumentals, and other miscellany, is yours for the taking via his Soundcloud, widget thingy.

Criminals, or creatives? Decide after you watch this hour-long documentary about how sampling has affected artists over the past twenty years, entitled Copyright Criminals. May or may not be suggestive of their own personal opinion of what it means to take one second of James Brown's signature squeal and set it to your ill beatz. You decide.

But so it goes, have some "Chimney Intruder"! You probably know where this is going.

Bradford Cox's "work tapes" are better than your masters. Sorry...that's just how it is. Luckily, I suspect Cox wants nothing more out of life than to be able to churn out tunes for your pleasure...so there's plenty of inspiration to be had.

It's always fun to get an invitation to an intimate and super-secret engagement with an international pop star. It's even better when we're told to bring those cameras that we like to play with so much along. Such was the case when our friends at Epic Records hosted an insanely exclusive get together with none other than Natasha Bedingfield at Rockwood Music Hall.

It's funny. Rockwood is starting to feel like our home away from home. We're comfy there, we kick our feet up on the coffee table, maybe rummage behind the bar to see what's hiding in the fridge. But when an artist of Natasha's ilk comes a calling, well...it's a bit strange, even nerve racking. No matter, we quelled the butterflies fluttering about the stomach, held the cameras steady, and captured an invigorating set of songs both new and old in our latest exclusive release.

In town to celebrate the release of her third album Strip Me, Natasha spent the hours before Rockwood performing on all the TV shows you know. Of course, those performances have a tendency of coming off a bit sterile. So Natasha and her band put together something just a bit more honest...an intimate show for select friends and fans in celebration of release day. Now we present it for everyone to enjoy.

We could summarize and satirize all the turmoil that Julie Taymors $60+ million powder-keg of a production Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark is suffering, but it's infinitely more entertaining to watch computer animated characters tell us in Korean with English subtitles, so let's go with that.

White Wires appeared on our scope a few weeks ago. They're back with the release of their recordWW II on Dirtnap Records last week and some Christmas cheer... another free tune for the fanz. Check out "Did You Forget My Name" for some jumpy buzz-saw guitar goodness.

After a few lighter projects, notably with his Mystic Valley Band and Monsters of Folk, Conor Oberst is returning to his most infamous, warbly moniker Bright Eyes for another album of infectiously mushy love/hate songs (that's the cover up top). That Elizabeth Ziman is a real heart breaker...at least in her video for Elizabeth and the Catapult's "You and Me". Here, our favorite piano plunkin' Brooklynite calls it quits with her little blue beau, only to spend her days going through the emotionally baffling stages of loss and grief. The holidays bring a lot of cheer for a lot of reasons, but I'm pretty sure that the number one reason to be cheery today is probably watching professional basketball player Shaquille O'Neil conduct the Boston Pops Orchestra and Tanglewood Festival Chorus in a jolly round of Christmas music/"We Are The Champions" because I'M SO GLAD THIS EXISTS.

We all love the original versions of "Frosty The Snowman" and "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town", but where would we be without modern hits like "All I Want For Christmas Is You?" and "Grandma Got Runover By A Reindeer"? So we've compiled a bunch of our favorite brand spankin' new Christmas jams, from artists like Kanye West, Beach House, The Postelles, and more, to really get the party started before Rudolph and that long winter's nap take over.

2010 is coming to a close, and we are now knee-deep in the joyful season of top ten/twenty/fifty retrospective lists. Over the course of a few weeks, everyone that relates themselves to music in one way or another will be putting out their own unique list of the year's best albums along with their own insights as to why each record deserved a nod or two. Differentiation is the norm in most publications, sometimes stereotypically so (NME loves Muse, Pitchfork loves that band you've never heard of/sounds like somebody recorded vomit). However, this year there is one consistent opinion coming from all, from the snobby to the blissfully underexposed: top honors go to Kanye West's unavoidable My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

John Grant is having a rough week. Not only is he suffering from a nasty flu and a throbbing toothache as he kicks off his first solo headlining U.S. tour, but the lover for whom he wrote painfully intimate songs like "Caramel," ended things recently by telling him "I don't know you." "They say addicts confuse intensity and intimacy. That has been a painful realization for me," Grant admits. Grant delivers both in spades, on Queen of Denmark, a record that has flown under the radar since its release in April, but is now picking up steam after being named Mojo magazine's album of the year. Backed by his label-mates, Midlake who provide astonishingly authentic recreations of '70s MOR ballads and slippery '80s synth symphonies, Grant's lyrics range from rageful invective, to lush romanticism to mordant humor, all the while, never sparing himself a cold, hard look.

Iron and Wine is continuing to roll out sneak peeks at his forthcoming 2011 album, Kiss Each Other Clean. Whether you know Sam Beams home phone number or you think he is just that guy who did the Garden State soundtrack, it's fun for everyone! But if you're unfamiliar with Mr. Beam, you're missing out on a treasure trove of jingly indie goodness. Grab the track and get acquainted.

In the past, vocalist Nicole Atkins has credited the dark and surreal cinematic world of David Lynch for inspiring her dark, slightly macabre take on rock, country, and folk music. Here, Lynch's influence colors the world of her brand new video for "Vultures". Gliding through the 'burbs, Nicole slowly leads a group that needs convinced of her message towards their baptism/drowning; fitting visuals for the key-bending strings, grungy bits of twang, and gothic vocal lines that twirl through the song. The song is the opening track to her new album Mondo Amore, due out this January at her new label home, Razor and Tie.

"Yes," a hard-hitting collaboration between two of North America's top names in dubstep, Bassnectar and Datsik, went up on Bassnectar's youtube page a few weeks ago accompanied by an exciting announcement. Namely, that it was to be the first of several collaborations between Amorphous Records (Bassnectar's label) and Rottun Records (home of Datsik and hometown buddies/frequent collaborators Excision and Downlink, among others). If this tune is any indication of the way things are going, bass heads have a lot to look forward to in the coming months.

Mike Handreas' Perfume Genius project gets its' first official video in the form of "Lookout, Lookout". It's stark, lonely, but beautiful to say the least. The Patrick Sher directed video celebrates the expanded version of his debut Learning, out now with an additional three songs on Matador.

Song of the year recipient Florence and the Machine rocked out on The Late Show last night, despite a GREAT intro from Letterman. You'll see what I mean.

Tim Kasher doesn't want to grow up. While many think of adulthood as job security, white fences and nuclear families, there is an equal and opposite force that, once free of school and guardianship, continually craves a more dynamic mode of living through freedom of choice and mobility. The two inherently conflict. The Game Of Monogamy, on the surface, refers to relationships, and maybe marriage, but a monogamous life in stereotypical middle America (where Kasher grew up) has numerous implications that are explored here; you must provide, you are expected to raise children, and you certainly can't live as you would a single, untethered man. Slavery to a societal system is sometimes part of getting older, but what if our desires don't quite line up with the structure? That is the question Kasher has posed again and again, and with Monogamy we find him no closer to the answer that he was ten years ago. "I don't want a kid and I can't keep being one".

An R.E.M. song always makes me think of Pizza Hut. Just like how Pizza Hut tastes the same in every city, every country, every planet. No matter where it is, or who makes it, or what it's about, an R.E.M. song always sounds like an R.E.M. song. Michael Stipe still sounds like Michael Stipe. That's him in the corner, with a new record ready for release in 2011 called . To promote it, the guys are giving away a track (because that is what all the kids are doing these days). It's called "Discoverer", and it sounds like... you get it.

It's time to get into the spirit of the season, Youtube style. On the eighth day of Christmas, the internet gave to me: a man dressed in a Santa suit TEARIN' IT UP to some techno beats on the side of the road (not the above pictured, unfortunately, but still great). Move cars! Get out the way!

Amidst the urban terrain of Brooklyn, electro-babble and Williamsburg art-punk, it isn't exactly commonplace to discover a jug-and-washboard type troupe led by a guy in a beard corralling sing-alongs and God and the Devil. Enter Spirit Family Reunion, a group with so much country soul they make the mountains of the Carolinas look like Northern New Jersey. Their recently released "When My Name Is Spoken" 7-Inch has a B-side, and we're pleased to premier the MP3 for your downloading pleasure. Check out "On That Day" after the jump.

Diddy Dirty Money is the new group fronted by the second-most changed name in music, born Sean Combs (AKA Diddy, Daddy, Puff, P, that guy). They've released an album called Last Train To Paris. Good idea? Ustream the release party, including the hot tub, and some shortys. Better idea? Shorty's ON FIRE. Literally. Watch.

The Mountain Goats have released a rough-edged, solemn number over their Twitter account for free. The tune, entitled "Tyler Lambert's Grave," is a tribute to the late Tyler Lambert, son of TV actress Dana Plato. The tune also commemorates the group reaching 5000 Twitter followers.

"Tyler Lambert's Grave" will not be appearing on the Mountain Goats' forthcoming album due to its "much different mood." Check the sad, string-and-piano driven tune out below, and if it gets too depressing, remember that there are happier things in store for the future.

The Academy has announced the shortlist for Best Original Song contenders in the 83rd annual Academy Awards, and just like the Grammys, there is definitely a way to make this a drinking game. Forty-one songs populate the list, with artists ranging as wide in the spectrum as Jonsi to Pharrell to Justin Bieber to Owl City. Can you imagine those performances side by side? Oh yeah, they got rid of those on the telecast. Moving on!

Their name might be lifted from an old children's TV series, but don't be fooled: Reading Rainbow is not a learn-to-read activity geared at six year olds. Rather, they are an up-and-coming two-piece garage rock group from Philadelphia. They recently released their second full-length album, Prism Eyes, to widespread critical acclaim, and with good reason. It's a simple but effective collection of garage-rock tunes in the tradition of the genre's best, tinged with vintage keyboards and psychedelic touches. Check out the album's first video, for "Always on My Mind," below.

We're not going to beat around the bush, but when we heard this guy's debut album we saw his as a perfect heir to the Three 6 Mafia legacy (minus the hilarity of owning up to songs with titles like "A*s and Titties" and "Slob on my Knob"), and with a flow closer to the cartoon character in Die Antwoord. This new track, however, shows a little more depth to the rapper. On this ode to a crystal meth dealer named Billy, Yelawolf takes an objective and interesting look into the dark world of meth sales and usage in the south. The beat brings an interesting twist via a slight dub-step kind of feel, and the guy singing the chorus sounds a lot like Hadaway, which is always sweet. Check it out below.

Rising Swedish stars First Aid Kit are continuing their meteoric rise to the top of the folk heap with a contribution to Third Man Records' Blue Series. The "Blue Series" is a series of 45s being released on the Jack White-run label from a variety of artists, and is so named because each release features a blue-background photo of the artist as its album art. First Aid Kit joins the likes of Laura Marling and Wanda Jackson, among many others, as contributors.

Joanna Newsom took her exquisite harp, lofty tunes and muppet voice to the Late Show last night, and we've all been digging through our brains trying to remember what Letterman's "I didn't like it" tell is for musical guests. It's always fun to see the reaction to the truly left-field indie darlings, it's like they let Screaming Females front-lady Marisa Paternoster read excerpts from Goodnight Moon or something. But Joanna sounds great! Let's watch.

Super friends James Mercer and Danger Mouse (Broken Bells) popped in to visit Conan last night, to play a cut off their 2010 self-titled debut album. Check out "The Ghost Inside", which assures us despite reaching the edge of the late night music cliff, we've still got a few good performances left this year!

Lil' Wayne did his time, and now it's time for Tha Carter IV to begin impacting. First single "6'7" (Ft. Cory Gunz)" puts some serious Wayne wordplay to work over a banana boat sample, spliced with the all too familiar marching beat of "A Milli" producer Bangladesh. The "ohhhhh!" moments are endless.

Rooney has announced a headlining US tour in February to support their latest release, Eureka. The tour will run the 2nd through the 26th of the month and cover most of the country except (oddly enough, considering its the band's home base) the West Coast. Eisley will be providing direct support, and The Chapin Sisters will open the tour's first half. The second half will feature The Old Ceremony as opener.

Harper Blynn bring a prickly sense of depth to their self titled debut EP, a likeable familiarity married with a penchant for heart-coated sleeves. Formed over four years of DIY work ethic, in an often disheartening music landscape in New York City, the band (or previously, pieces of it) has worked to build their chops in writing the kind of jangly guitar pop that the LES is known for spewing in excess, albeit with a bit more memorable hooks to boast about. Thus their EP fits neatly into an unknown indie playlist, while maintaining its promise for eventual radio play. Harper Blynn may occasionally skew cheesy with their lines, but like our sappiest moments in real life, you can't help but smile a little at their sincerity.

2010 has come and gone, and we feel like its been a hell of a year for new music (and a hell of a year for us). We've ventured from our rooftop to the far corners of New York City in search of new concert expriences. We've sifted through CDs and iTunes playlists and listened to days worth of music. We've seen more music videos than MTV has played in the last five years. Now the votes have been tallied, and the people have spoken. Pop some champagne! It isn't often that political commentary about the struggle for dominance between oil companies is editorialized by calling them "bitches", and much less so that it's contextualized by putting two men in a symbolic wrestling match, soaking them in crude oil, and letting their quarrel devolve into a friendly, dare I say erotic rub-down while a bunch of people in face paint watch and one clowney looking giant dude smokes a cigar, but TODAY IS THAT DAY.

Diddy Dirty Money is a collaborative effort between rap legend Diddy and backup singers/co-songwriters Dawn Richard (formerly of Danity Kane fame) and Kalenna. All three appeared on Letterman last night to perform a tune from their debut album, "Coming Home." I wouldn't exactly call it a humble tune, but it's probably the closest thing we'll get from Diddy. In any case, Diddy lives up to his title as one rap's best showmen. Check it out after the jump.

Baeble catches up with Surfer Blood's Thomas Fekete and Brian Black during this interview at Daniel Street Club this past June. We were there to capture their show, which hit the site today.

It's appropriate that one of our final concert releases of a very busy 2010 would be this scorching summer set from Surfer Blood. The fresh faced Floridian outfit are putting the finishing touches on a rather restless year themselves; one that started with the release of their stellar debut Astro Coast back in January, and fawned heaps of praise wherever in the world they happened to find a stage. They would find plenty.

This particular show was captured on a sticky summer night this past June at the Daniel Street club in Milford Connecticut. Though filming in an unfamiliar setting yielded a somewhat tricky production, what follows is a honest, on-stage (and, towards the end...off) account of one of 2010's most exciting bands. Here Surfer Blood take to tangy, sun kissed fret work and stomp the pedal box moments of grit...the band's raw guitar crunch seeping into a heavy sway of multiple, percussive elements. At the helm of the group, John Paul (JP) Pitts flaunts flailing, haphazard kind of vocals, high on reverb and coloring outside the melodious lines like some newbie version of Stephen Malkmus. Not surprisingly, it's a sound that reminisces more of early 90s buzz bin bands than the contemporary indie fixation with weird electronic acrobatics; a refreshing, throwback spin that has felt very of the moment all year long

In case you were worried there wasn't a useful instructional video for everything, including how to perform basic Photoshop functions like removing red eye and making text pop, we've got good news! Wendy's Hamburgers aren't the only thing that has a hip learning curve. OBSERVE. [via]

MTV, in an attempt to combat claims that they've shifted from "music discovery service" to "guido/teen pregnancy exploitation", MTV has created a new tool for people to find trendy music. Through combing social networks for buzz and removing the obvious Gaga/Bieber frontrunners, they've created the MTV Music Meter, a top 100 of sorts monitoring the internet's most talked about acts.

Chill-wave whiz-kid Chaz Bundick is taking a funky turn with other 2010 recorded material, and we don't mean like the lost and found socks at the gym. Check out "Still Sound", which blends Toro Y Moi's silky vocals with a disco-lite arrangement of real life synth and bass driven bliss. It's from his forthcoming sophomore album which is said to be the instrument driven counter-point to his computer jams from 2010's Causers Of This, grab it for free-ninety nine below.

When it came time to choosing the visuals for the first song to emerge from their upcoming album Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will, Mogwai chose to snag a clip for the upcoming documentary 30 Century Man. It's a film about James Bowthorpe, the current round-the-world champion cyclist who smashed the previous record by 20 days. The documentary was directed by Antony Crook; an artist who is responsible for the cover art of Mogwais upcoming album. Apparently he also had a copy of the bands demo while filming this part of his film in the isolated Norwegian countryside.

Says Crook, "We were so far north the sun never set. I wanted the film to somehow give a sense of what James had achieved and the idea of him being alone, somewhere wild and isolated".

It worked, and set to the cinematic sounds of "How to Be a Werewolf" provides a beautiful piece of audio-visual. Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will will be released Feb 15th via Sub Pop.

Making the internet rounds today: on Saturday night Anne Hathaway and Denzel Washington starred in The Devil Wears Prada 2: The Look-Book of Eli co-hosted the annual Nobel Peace Prize concert, held at Spektrum in Oslo, Norway, and Robyn performed for 12 minutes. It confirms this opinion. Check it out below:

We don't usually feel a profound need to repost the extensive reporting of others, most notable those who are reaching for the laffs, but this Cracked list is a must read for music fans, especially those who also happen to have a crippling love of conspiracy theories (read: me). The easter eggs include hidden messages, Radiohead predicting the future, and even album covers that change to color WHEN YOU GET THEM WET. This is heavy stuff, people!

We're not saying that this is necessarily the last week of worthwhile late night musical performances on American television, but we are saying that The Week in TV will see you in 2011 after this week, because after this, it 'aint worth making lists. The Island has spoken.

The two have experienced such a grueling touring schedule over the past year in support of their second release Volume 2 that it is understandable that they might want to take a break and play something else. Some of you may remember the minor freak-out we had on the pop-prowess of soulful crooner Adele's latest single, a nougaty bit of delicious chocolate hooks. After spending about three hundred years recording new tracks for his upcoming Detox record, Dr Dre is finally releasing some stuff for us, including this video for the single "Kush." The video looks "schmancy" (technical term), a nice homage to old-school Dre production values and the emphasis of booty in rap videos. Hopefully they earned some residuals off the Ciroc Vodka closeups (Beats by Dr. Dre get a cameo too, as well as Snoop Dogg). These guys may be old-old school, but they are making sure their style burns as slow as the drugs they boast about.

Overly orchestrated music seems to be all the rage these days and Philledelpias Grandchildren are making sure not to miss their chance to get in on the action. Everlasting, the bands debut album is a complex, forty-minute adventure through orchestrated acoustic/electric guitar riffs, abnormal percussion, synthesizers and vocal melodies and harmonies that are as sweet as saccharin.

Freezepop have always dabbled in a sound that seems a bit obsessed with the past. Their blippy beginnings started in Boston more than a decade ago, and have recently blossomed into a more sophisticated sound on their just released fourth album Imaginary Friends. Over the course of their career, fans of their work could argue and point out any number of bands informing their work...makes for spirited debate, for sure. But as curators of this week's T.G.I.MixTape, Freezepop's Liz Enthusiasm and Sean T. Drinkwater put any discussion to rest, blatantly laying out the list of heroes who have helped inspire their work over the years. It's an incredibly insightful MixTape; one that peaks with love and passion for the bands these musicians can credit for sending them along their way.

For some time now, house producer and DJ Kaskade has been releasing one free track every "music Monday" through his Soundcloud page. This week's holiday-themed installment is his take on Bing Crosby's classic "White Christmas."

Young Man was born on the internet; a bedroom project of Colin Caulfield that spawned legs (and a record deal with Frenchkiss) when the young Chicago songwriter started flooding YouTube with both covers and original material. Its an unsophisticated kind of story, but one seeped in a certain amount of youthful naivet. Kind of like the story that unfolds in Caulfields first video for "Up So Fast". Here, a skinny mini kind of kid goes to extreme measures to feel a bit more beefy. Yeah, turns out he didnt have to do any of that.

It's always fun to get an invitation to an intimate and super-secret engagement with an international pop star. It's even better when we're told to bring those cameras that we like to play with so much along. Such was the case Tuesday night, when our friends at Epic Records hosted an insanely exclusive get together with none other than Natasha Bedingfield at Rockwood Music Hall.

Rihanna's Loud is something of a mixed bag. There are good songs, "meh" songs, and the occasional not-so-good song. It's an uneven listen all the way through, but like many pop albums, the standouts and singles are what count here. There are plenty of those to go around, and the filler tunes aren't missed when they're skipped.

If you like your Christmas music... er... disturbing, check out the Golden Filter's take on Psychic TV's "White Nights." I don't think I've ever heard lyrics about Santa Claus and sleigh bells sound quite so ominous, although the line "Santa Claus is checking his list/going over it twice/seeing who is naughty and who is nice" is actually lifted from the Rev. Jim Jones' death tape. In the more traditional Christmas spirit, the song is available to fans as a free gift - just enter your email address in the box at their website. I'd avoid the Kool-Aid, though.

Terms like "indie-pop", "twee", and "Canadian" have kind of become the 2010 signifiers of tofu music, the modern "generic independent rock band". Toronto's Wildlife could accurately be called any of these things, but the work they put in here deserves much better than a lazy pigeonhole. They've expanded their mostly (and wrongfully) overlooked EP of the same name into a full length record, magnifying their buyount, sponge-y energy to a massive success. And whereas the EP felt like a tease, the full length Strike Hard Young Diamond allows the band a more dynamic, fully-formed platform for their songs to thematically expand and settle. It may be late in the game, but these twelve tracks feel like one of the most memorable finds of the entire year, channeling the stomp-pop of contemporaries like Wolf Parade, mixed with the quirk of bands like the Harlem Shakes.

A preview of sorts from Swedish girl rockers Those Dancing Days' new album Daydreams and Nightmares, due March 1st via Wichita Recordings. "Fuckarias" is a real joyride, and if you need to take it with you is available for download on the bands website.

Though the Ontario-based duo Memoryhouse dabble in sounds that liken them to a handful of other nostalgia hungry bedroom projects, this video for "Heirloom" very much unfolds out and about in the world. Its got a classic kind of look, courtesy of director Jamie Harley..."the undisputed king of moving visuals" (their words).

Liverpools most peculiar export Clinic send le chat noir off on a phantasmagorical journey in this video for "Bubblegum". Directed by award winning directors Alasdair & Jock.

Mumford & Sons' debut album Sigh No More was one of 2010's breakout successes, climbing to number 16 on the billboard charts, not to mention being nominated for best album in this year's best of Baeble poll (be sure to vote!). To follow up their runaway success with the album, the band is releasing a collaborative EP with Indian folk group the Dharohar Project and Laura Marling. The album, which was recorded while Mumford & Sons were touring India, features reworkings of Marling's "Devil's Spoke" and Mumford & Sons' "To Darkness," along with two completely new songs. It's available on iTunes today through Glassnote Records and promises to be an interesting listen.

San Francisco-based art rock group Birds and Batteries blend an amazing variety of influences ranging from New Wave to synthpop to classic rock to create a unique, hard-to-classify sound. The result is somehow modern and hip while harking back to the days of classic acts like Bowie, the Talking Heads, and Tom Petty. Its actually probably better if you just hear it for yourself, since most attempts at description are just as schizophrenic as mine was - check out the tracks they have streaming at their website (link below).

R. Kelly made the first of his two scheduled appearances on Jimmy Fallon last night. There wasn't a performance of "Trapped in the Closet," but he did preview a song from his forthcoming album Love Letter. The Grammy-nominated tune, entitled "When a Woman Loves," is broken into three sections: a slow one, the dramatic ending to said section, and a fast one.

Rolling Stone's newly-crowned queen of hip-hop Nicki Minaj returned to late-night TV, this time for an interview as well as a performance on Lopez Tonight. The interview covers a variety of topics, from Minaj's alter egos to what she's asked to sign most often to the allegedly magical powers of her posterior - details about all of these and more, plus the performance of "Moment 4 Life," after the jump.

The title pretty much says it all: the official, legitimate rework of Limewire's filesharing service, has been officially killed as of today. According to a statement given by the company to Digital Music News, "plans to bring our separate, legal music service to market have been cancelled" and "The beginning of 2011 will mark the closing of LimeWire's New York office and the cessation of business by LimeWire."

Louisiana's Youth Sounds are producing some electro-pop songs that sound oh so grown up. The band is currently unsigned (someone get on that) but they have an EP out right now called The Bit Parts that is getting rave reviews all over the inter-web. The three songs that I have heard off their myspace are melancholy and moody yet peaceful and soothing. Have a listen for yourselves.

I remember the good old days where I was capable of filtering people into two categories: people I could potentially become friends with and people I never will never give a chance because they liked bands like Fall Out Boy. That fad of bands eventually faded away and I had to resort to watching out for other qualities I didn't like in people like hipster bowl-cuts, Black Eyed Peas ringtones and Affliction t-shirts. Luckily for me and my cynical ways, Fall Out Boy is sort of coming back and I'll be able to start that hate parade all over again.

The Tron: Legacy soundtrack, written by robotic Paris house gods Daft Punk, has been one of the most buzzed-about musical events of 2010. Now, after months of waiting, the finished product has finally reached my ears - I'll give you a moment to get over your jealously before I answer the million-dollar question.

So, was the anticipation justified?

This week we're offering you a colossal Hook Up, courtesy of our friends in the rock and roll behemoth Everest. We were lucky enough to nab the band for a tempered down acoustic performance during our recent slate of Rockwood Sessions. The Guest Apartment style video debuted on the site earlier today. In honor of it, were giving away two autographed, screen-print posters from the bands Spring 2010 tour. Posters were part of a limited, 50 print run, and each is individually numbed and autographed by the entire band.

A band whose well weathered members have racked up years of due payment gigging with the likes of Sebadoh, Earlimart, Great Northern, and The Watson Twins, Everest came a calling for a fleet of performances over the course of CMJ 2010. They would assemble before a late night, boozed up audience at The Mercury Lounge; their tried and true, three guitar stab at the fundamentals of American Rock and Roll reminiscent of an early encounter with the likes of My Morning Jacket (Whom, by the way, they would take the stage in support of two days later at Terminal 5) or Band of Horses.

In addition to those performances, we were lucky enough to nab the band for a tempered down acoustic performance during our Rockwood Sessions. Showcasing a pair of songs from their Neil Young endorsed album On Approach ("Let Go" and "Tall Buildings"), as well as one from their debut Ghost Notes ("Rebels In The Roses"), the band would conjure rustic images of long lost, Laurel Canyon kind of days. Though a bit more hushed in the Rockwood environment, the band's rhythmic foundation flared through, thanks in part to the synchronous might of drummer Davey Latter and bassist Eli Thomson.

We would also share some conversation with leading man Russell Pollard and guitarist Joel Graves; the two opening up about the beautiful noise they make together and some of the inspirations that drive their music along. What follows is a personal look at a band that lead us to warn their manager, "I think you have a monster on your hands". We think you'll agree. True to Everest's name, expect massive things from this impressive LA outfit.

Blood Red Shoes is a pretty gruesome band name. So imagine how surprised we were to learn the UK band took their name from an anecdote involving Ginger Rodgers and Fred Astaire. Yeah, we didnt see that one coming either... In this exclusive interview with guitarist Laura-Mary Carter and drummer Steven Ansell, the rock duo focus the conversation on their collective history together, tracing roots that, though grounded in the similiar sort of foundations as every other band in the UK, have spawned an exciting, international musical career. Ahead of touring in support of sophomore album Wounded Rhymes later this spring, Lykke Li appeared in NYC last week, gracing the stage at Le Poisson Rouge to kick the tires on many of her new tunes.

UK's Los Campesinos! are giving away "Too Many Flesh Suppers." The song is the B-side to their Romance is Boring 7" and they want everyone to get a second chance to hear it because, according to the band, no body bought it the first time around. Members of the band have also said that this is one of their favorite tracks that they have ever recorded, but it sadly didn't fit with the rest of their latest album, Romance is Boring, so they left it on the cutting room floor. Here it is now, taped back together.

Kelly has two nights in a row on Fallon, and we watch both nights, because who knows what kind of crazy shenanigans The Roots have planned for the star and creator of Trapped In The Closet. For much of the last decade, ambient Icelandic rock outfit Sigur Ros have helped usher audiences to higher planes of consciousness via extravagant compositions, nonsensical lyrics (dubbed "Hopelandic"), and, perhaps most powerfully, lead singer Jon Thor Birgisson's (Jonsi) alien falsettos. It's a combination that's lead many to describe their music in the same way one might characterize the coming and going of a violent storm. The quiet anxiety of anticipation, the blustering buildups, the final moments of cataclysmic composition; Sigur Ros songs unfold like surprising events, with arching storylines that occasionally drift past the ten minute mark.

Matishayuand that guy that produces all the songs for Katy Perry and Ke$ha (I think his name is Dr. Joke or something) have come out with a sweeter than sweet bubble-gum pop Hanukkah song. It's a little too smiley and joyful for my taste but at least there's another Hanukkah song besides this one.

Caribou's Swim, released earlier this year, was a modest and muted affair. It contained the brilliant, brainiac funk of "Odessa," and a slew of dance mood pieces that promised more than they delivered. The controlled iciness that permeated the record was a big change from the warm, early British pop influences of the previous Caribou outing, 2007's Andorra. Despite being an unlikely candidate for an album's worth of variations, Swim Remixes turns out to be a sprawling, stylistically diverse goodie bag, that far surpasses the original.

Deerhunter rocked/mellowed out on Conan last night, making their first ever TV performance a good one. "Helicopter" may have been a lot more melancholy than the usual song played on a late night show, but it made up for it by far exceeding the expected amount of synthetic fog. Coldplay have created the exact opposite of what I want from my Cristmas music with their new song/video "Christmas Lights," a dramatic piano and string ballad depicting some emotional problem that Chris Martin is having around the holidays. Christmas at my house is all about "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer," eggnog mixed with Budweiser, and keeping the fire extinguisher always at an arms reach, waiting for the next time the tree or outside lights start sparking. Anyways, here it is:

Chief's opening track to Modern Rituals is one of their most indicative, full of California harmony and thumping momentum. Director Austin Peters gives it the smudge treatment in the official video, where scenes from an American lifetime play out with some obscured faces.

As we creep towards 2011, the lists are pouring in from all angles. You guys already know some of our picks, and they are still up for debate. But it's always a pleasure to see our tastes aligned with our colleagues, and every now and then we'd like to share those similarities with you. Our friend Cliff Chenfeld, an executive in the Music Industry, wrote out a list of his picks for 2010 and we think they are spot on.

We'll get to the portrait. First some context:

Bing has now successfully ingested and indexed our video library into Bing Video and created Smart Media Thumbnails ("SMTs") for the entire collection. SMTs are thumbnails in the search results that, when moused over, play a small portion of the video without having to leave the search page. These thumbnails come to life in a whole new way.

Creating this feature took some doing by the good folks at Bing, who had to create custom programming to sneak inside our Fort Knox of a CDN (Content Distribution Network) to get at the raw video files to generate the SMTs. We store our videos in a secure CDN now, because we busted a site in Germany a couple of years ago that had hacked our old CDN and was running their version of Baeble in their market.

In honor of our 87th mixtape, we're taking a vacation from 2010. We decided to hop in the Delorean and compile a bunch of number one hits from the real '87: 1987. Notable events: Ronald Reagan is President, Michael Douglas wins Best Actor for Wall Street, Windows 2.0 is released, the first appearance of The Simpsons, the birth of Ke$ha. As for the radio, there were quite a few classics, including hits from your favorite retro-beach party soundtrack like Starship, Heart, and Cutting Crew, not to mention some of the best stuff from people who are still around today, like U2 and Madonna. Let's put on some Growing Pains and do the Cabbage Patch!

Whoa, I think Christmas came early and I've been a terrible boy, because Department Of Sanitation pin-up girl Ke$ha has a new video! And if barf was a corporation this video would be the CEO! Head of the board! Business is booming! The company has acquired GRAMMY NOMINATED PRODUCTION (Dr. Luke - not a real doctor). If there is a God he has the sickest sense of humor I've ever seen somewhat successfully sing about hitting on boys "hard" while executing a boob grab. I'm sorry Santa. Send it back.

KT Tunstall has gained herself yet another fan. I had no idea what I was in for when I entered Terminal 5 on Wednesday night. I liked the KT songs I knew (the ones that everyone knows), but I had never before seen or heard anything she did, live.

For those who experience season changes, every month has a certain feel, which corresponds to certain albums. Fleet Foxes, carries a January vibe, while Arcade Fire's The Suburbs sounds great in the Fall, and Lost In Space by Aimee Mann has been a personal favorite for November evenings since its release back in 2002. Were this phenomenon more recognized, musicians might even time releases based on the album's best listening season, in which case,Sidewalks would make a perfect candidate for early Summer, brimming as it is with energy and potential.

Up and coming Canadian group The Luyas are playing this Sunday at Glasslands in Williamsburg, and if you're in New York this week it's worth checking out. This psychedelic quartet is known for its unusual live shows. This past year they led 50 unsuspecting fans to a secret location in Brooklyn for an intimate live performance and light show. Then they put on an entirely self-funded show in Montreal that can be called nothing less than an event, featuring costumes, props, lighting and dancers. If you need any other convincing, check out the video below.

Philadelpha-based four-piece Arc In Round lists among their influences experimental groups like This Heat and Disco Inferno, Krautrock, and shoegaze. The resulting sound is a spacey, slightly dissonant collection of trippy keyboards, densely-layered guitars, and reverb-drenched vocals. Sound cool to you? Wait until you check out the three songs they have streaming at their Bandcamp page.

Jonsi has already demonstrated his solo pop-ish take on the shiny stylization of his band Sigur Ros is excellent. But in case there is even the slightest doubt at his talents (or his qualifications for album of the year then you should grab this new free live track below. "New Piano Song" is the perfect introduction to Jonsi's meticulously beautiful style, and the perfect compliment to his work on Go.

Cake led the studio audience in a rousing sing-along to the tune of their latest single, "Sick of You," on last night's episode of Conan. The crowd catches onto the catchy, anthemic lyrics and melodies almost instantly, and so will you.

Miniature Tigers make a bit of a twisted sound. Strange yelps, trippy harmonies, laser beaming synths, and the kind of beats that make it easy to pounce around the campfire. These are the facets the LA based four-piece occupy their time with, holing up from the dead pan seriousness of the world in pursuit of something just a bit more breezier, albeit weirder as well. Perhaps that's why they've dubbed their most recent album Fortress. Their music is a safe haven from life's less savory elements. So it's appropriate we offered the band a similar sort of sanctuary when we invited them to shake up The Guest Apartment with a few of their playful, psych pop skirmishes.

Yes, like many that have come before them, Miniature Tigers had to leave some of their sonic accessories at home when they paid us a visit. But this session still taps into the unique bits of songs like "Bullfighter Jacket", "Lolita", and "Tropical Birds", shining a definite focus on the schized-out rhythms and demented harmonies that drive them along. In conversation, the band also touch on some of the inspirations that might account for the twisted flavoring of Fortress. So, while the doors are open, we strongly encourage you to storm Miniature Tigers' strange sonic fortress in this segment of The Guest Apartment.

Spoon has released an album of previously unreleased demos and alternative recordings for your indie listening pleasure. All of the songs were recorded between 2008-2009 so all songs were recorded during the time the band was making their 2010 album Transference. Vampire Weekend is now suing photographer Tod Brody over the alleged stealing of their album cover photo. Ann Kirsten Kennis, the sweater-clad chick from their 2010 album Contra, is suing Vampire Weekend for $2 million, claiming she did not give anyone permission to use the photograph. We're suing Ann Kirsten Kennis for symmetry. Tod?

Contrary to their usual irrelevancy to our opinions and tastes in the music sphere, this year's Grammy nods include some surprises. Some of the nominees actually have real estate in our iTunes library! And a big surprise in the category of Album Of The Year as our own pick for best album could coincide with the Recording Academy's decision (but it probably won't). Ben Folds somehow makes Ke$ha more tolerable with his SO BEN FOLDS version of Ke$ha's "Sleazy". If you don't kind of like Ben Folds even just a little bit, you must be a Disney villain.

Most of us aren't quite ready to shell out hundreds of dollars to see the Julie Taymor masterpiece Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark and risk potential injury and/or the death of musical theater. Luckily Conan O'Brien has our back! He showed a preview on Conan last night, and you can check it out below.

If you've heard a Girl Talk album before, especially 2008's Feed The Animals, then you know exactly what to expect here. It's a milkshake of pop tunes and rap lyrics from all over the generations of recorded music, designed for the ADD generation: immediately satisfying and eventually as disposable as the paper cup it came in. It's totally free though, so why not?

We mentioned SongCircle a couple of weeks ago as a great organization looking for new and interesting songwriters across the country. This week they announced known as Barnaby Bright, a duo from Brooklyn by way of Kansas City, MO, as the winners of the 5th annual SongCircle songwriting contest, held at City Winery in New York City.

Bright Eyes has announced the release date for what may well be their final album. Having announced in a Rolling Stone interview some time ago that he would be retiring Bright Eyes after one final album, Conor Oberst seems set to deliver on that promise. The new album will be titled The People's Key and is slated for release on February 15th, 2011 on Saddle Creek. Check out the full 10-song tracklisting below.

The Killers, after a year of dormancy, have come out of hibernation to release their fifth yearly Christmas single. This year's is entitled "Boots" and is available for purchase now on iTunes and Amazon.

Collaborations are always exciting news, but never in our wildest dreams did we think two of our favorite Baeble acts would come together for a glorious, funky collection of tracks like this. Songstress Diane Birch recently set her vocal talents to the soulful backing of The Phenomenal Hand Clap Band to create The Velveteen Age, a collection of covers ranging from The Cure, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees and others. Get a taste of the far-reaches of the Olympic Peninsula with this new black and white music video from Jarrod Paul Bramson and Emily Madden, known collectively as Solvents. The new band out of Washington state captures the essence of their little town with a series of portrait-like shots of them wandering and recording.

Mister Heavenly is a supergroup of sorts - its three members include Nick Thorburn of Islands, Honus Honus of Man Man and Joe Plummer of Modest Mouse. Not surprisingly given the stature of the members' other projects, Mr. Heavenly was recently picked up by Sub Pop. They are currently poised to make their very first mark on the scene outside the news pages with a ten-date tour opening for Passion Pit.

We're already painfully aware of the strange wonders of celebrity being used as leverage to make records, but it is almost forgivable based on intention (educational). Hogan had a well known love of music but it wasn't until after he became the scourge of t-shirts everywhere that he had the resources and the complete lack of foresight to make an album that sounds like it could be a prop in a Judd Apatow movie. With titles like "Hulkster's Back", "Hulkster In Heaven" and "Beach Patrol", it's obvious we are working with some deep thematic material, lyrical prowess, and inventive chord progressions. Psyche! It's terrible!

If you were wondering what would happen if a bunch of cartoon chefs made two cakes turn into people during a snowstorm, then Pat Grossi AKA Active Child has just the music video for you! Also, what a specific thought! "I'm In Your Church At Night" is a bit of a departure from the usual Ace Of Cakes fare. You aren't going to see this sh*t on the Cooking Channel.

Toronto indie-pop group Wildlife (there are apparently several bands with similar names out there, but we've linked to the right one) recently expanded their debut EP, Strike Hard, Young Diamond into a similarly-titled full-length album. So far, the results have been good - the band has been making a positive impact in the blogosphere, and its easy to see why. The tunes, which the band describes as "[furthering] an understanding of what it means to be naive and full of spark," are overflowing with raw energy and optimism.
