The first single from their soon to be released third album Eureka, "I Can't Get Enough" gives fans of the Southern California pop outfit Rooney a nice indication as to the chipper sound the band is embracing these days. Yes, it's reminiscent of the chunks of cheer they've been handing out for all these years, but that's the way we like it. The video is also a real hoot...especially for those who like their roller derby served with a fair amount of cosmic ridiculousness.

The mixtape is going on vacation this week, which means that we'll need a surf and sun soundtrack worthy of beach balls, boardwalks, 90 degree weather, ocean breezes, a complete lack of work, sandy toes, fishing, being lazy, day drinking, more sun, mermaids... man Summer is great. Celebrate the warm weather and the official start of summer with this ice-cool mix of SWEET summer tunes.

Spirit Youth is an advancement in the band's sound, no doubt about that, the evidence is pretty much right up front. Soundwise their debut was a bit more grainy and Famicom forward... focusing more on the marriage of blips and distorted fender amps than writing hooks or even paying attention to lyrics. This time around they stick to the sappy emotions, but communicate them a little more on the understandable side.

Trent Reznor and his wife, now known as How To Destroy Angels have been continuing the legacy of NiN via jammy, industrial electronic music. Their first self-titled EP, much like the first NiN EP, hit the market for free next week. You can "pre-order" it now. Hear "The Believers" after the jump and realize that the other five songs are probably going to be pretty boss.

If you haven't gotten on board with Diddy's weirdo, tuxedo sporting protege Janelle Monae, you better get your ears checked for STUPID PILLS. Her album, despite being all over the blogs, is going to be a cross-over success in everyones brains, because it's too awesome for high/low boundaries and Lady GaGaisms. "Tightrope" featured a-la-minute rapper Big Boi, but Monae proved on Letterman last week that she can carry a stage all alone... bopping like Brown and sliding like Jackson, she's a true performer. And "Cold War" shows her versatility on this record... it sounds more like a Gnarls Barkley banger than anything else (maybe Outkast, it's been suggested), and it's just really excellent.

To say Jack White is talented would be an understatement. His latest musical endeavor, The Dead Weather, consisting of Dean Fertita, Alison Mosshart, and Jack Lawrence, is no exception. With members from The Kills, The Raconteurs, and Queens of the Stone Age, it is a supergroup to end all supergroups. Their sophomore album Sea of Cowards is a feast of balls-to-the-wall blues guitar rock and dirty power pop. With such high expectations for the album, the band delivers. And at just 35 minutes, the album is like a quick and dirty mud wrestling match between blues and hard rock.

Last night MTV debuted the Vampire Weekend video for what I assume is the next single, "Holiday". Don't count on gratuitous appearances of the Lacoste alligator... the guys are answering cries of preppiness by abandoning their brightly colored polos for... well, let's just say Louis XIV would feel right at home.

Let's all take a lunch break and read this very long, but comprehensive and important, look at rapper/activist/annoyance MIA. It will better help us all prepare for the real war: trying to discern the music she means, and the actions she uses to simply antagonize the consumer.

Watch the dancing, singing, drinking and hot babes in Big Boi's "Shutterbug", the first track off his probably-going-to-blow-some-minds solo record. Somehow, I don't think you know what to expect.

The much buzzed about movie centered around a Broken Social Scene concert is not in any way a documentary about the band. Rather it uses the music as a backdrop for a love story shot in Toronto. Not enough dialogue to tell if it will be a tear-jerker or a groan machine. The folks at NXNE have already seen the whole thing, so I suppose more can be found via Googling. For now, watch the trailer and decide for yourself...

Hear "Month of May" and "The Suburbs", both of which debuted yesterday on Radio One in foggy London town. Both will be featured on The Suburbs, the third full length studio record from The Arcade Fire, due 8/3 on Merge.

Encroaching on damn near two decades as a band, Nada Surf just keeps churning out collections of great guitar driven pop. Their latest effort, If I Had a Hi-Fi is a collection of cover tunes and hits stores in a couple weeks. "Electrocution" - a Bill Fox Cover - is the first bit to emerge from the album...a tight and taut tune that's pretty reminscent of just about everything they've put out over the course of their electric career.

It is very rare that one of the best artists of the moment puts their own spin on such an untouchable classic, especially considering Kristian Matsson (The Tallest Man On Earth) is more often compared to Bob Dylan than folk master Paul Simon. But his unique twist on one of Simon's finest tunes in recent memory is dazzling, to say the least. Purists beware, Matsson's voice is very different than Simon's, and the color of the song certainly seems a different shade of grey with TMOE at the helm.

THE UK - Hipsters let out a collective groan of unenthused ennui today, when this momentous event was preached from P4K's pulpit. Chris Ward (of Sub City radio in Scotland) wrote the folks at Pitchfork to alert them to the existence of the above pictured record, seemingly simple and unmarked, in a record store in Glasgow. This and the news that a school is staging a Neon Bible play in their school has caused me to lose my appetite, as well as to consider exclusively covering the disco-crunk scene for a while.

Always be commercials, right guys? If you've ever sneaked into a show before, you'll totally sympathize with the poor, unnamed protagonist in our new 30 second spot. Check it out in full HD after the jump.

Whoa! You put your head down for FIVE SECONDS and The Klaxons release their first song in three years while you're napping. I guess that is how the internet is, always be surprising us with bands who have been out of the limelight for years. Anyway, hear "Flashover" right after you jump.

Obscured human images, the destructive grind of a circle saw, splintered wood, sparks; these are the tools of the trade Small Black choose to handle in this, their video for "Bad Lover". The result is something that looks a little early semester art school, but paired with lyrics like "Lay down your wild hands if you are not in love", there is plenty of room for artistic interpretation. Our take? With the masked subjects of this video projected on wood that eventually meets the fate of the saw, the band hint at loveless beings being nothing more than saw dust in the wind, man. Whoa...

Compared to the recent slew of pornographic violence, psychedelic mind-melts, and political slop, this video seems like an episode of Sesame Street. Still, it's weird! Charlotte Gainsbourg is a triple threat: actress, sultry singer, and damn good looking (got to love those Frenchies). So watching her wander around nature and pet horses seems all well and nice. That is, until reality starts getting all wonky...

Leading a minion of black metal disciples in a choreographed dance of death, the always unpredictable Allison Goldfrapp imagines what an Olivia Newton John video might look like on a severe dose of acid. It's an odd hit indeed, complete with a trendy (think Twilight, True Blood, etc etc) surprise ending.

Gayngs are a bit different. I guess you could loosely throw them into the supergroup fold (members include guys from Bon Iver, The Rosebuds, Andrew Bird, etc.), but that's lazy. Their debut album, Relayted, deserves more than that, and to say it's different from anything else currently out there would be a vast, vast understatement.

Seabear caused a commotion at our party with their Icelandic tunes. The Reykjavik natives needed plenty of sunglasses to deal with the Austin heat, but once they took the stage, they were back to their old tricks. Although we didn't quite discover what the deal is with Icelandic food (not for lack of trying), we did discover an Icelandic deal that is super appetizing. Using Facebook as your fork, dig in to some delicious limited edition double CD versions of their new album We Built A Fire.

Foals have been one of those really interesting bands to watch. Their first release in 2008 had them really pushing the math rock inclinations of bands like Maps & Atlases or fellow UK band This Town Needs Guns. On their new album, Total Life Forever the guitars are a lot less angular and there is a lot more emphasis on the dance rock facets of the group's dynamic.

If there are audio delicacies Icelandic septet Seabear favor for inspiration, I would imagine it's the poignant pop artists like Belle and Sebastian and Sufjan Stevens have been baking all these years. Theirs' is a sound that suggests they caught a whiff of their idols' sonic ingredients a while back - the melodious piano lines, swinging drum beats, voluptuous violins, backwoods banjos, and splats of ringing glockenspiel - giving the recipe their own personal twist over time, and eventually launching into direct competition with the musical franchises. You and I are of course the winners of this kind of musical economy, as our latest concert video from Austin TX pits melody against melancholy, with incredibly affecting results.

Bono's back surgery, which we mentioned yesterday without making any bad puns, has really taken a toll on U2's summer plans. The band has been forced to cancel their slot at Glastonbury, and they'e rescheduled 16 stadium shows. See the complete list after the jump.

English, electro rock duo The Big Pink unleash this glammy, performance video to the tune of "Tonight".

Kick starting an ambitious fourth album with a slew of video accompaniment (4 videos, all told), Memphis band Snowglobe were kind enough to give us this exclusive look at the visuals to "Screaming Lil' Queen". It's an appropriately hypnotic affair, and is part of a feature length film the band has made. You see, Little More Lived In - the album which this slice of odd ball pop is ripped from - is the soundtrack to a film...one which apparently follows the band for 24 hours as they race to make it to the biggest show they will ever play. The stakes are obviously high.

Ex Dresden Doll Amanda Palmer is finally free of her record label of seven years. That means its time for her to do EVERYTHING and ANYTHING she wants. And in an email to her fans, she alerted us to her new pet project; covering the dulcet tones of Thom Yorke and the boys from Oxfordshire.

The first single off Let It Sway, the Chris Walla produced fourth studio record from the very elongated band Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin is a decidedly summer affair, bright guitars, Cali-bop harmonies, and a charm we're all too familiar with here at the Baebs. Go get it.

Your late night talk-show watching schedule. Rolling up to Memorial Day Weekend in America usually means tons of TV shows take their summer bows, while the late night crowd take their summer yachts and sail away to Rerun Town, population NOTHING NEW. However, I did hear the McDonald's in Rerun Town serves Shamrock Shakes all year and still has Batman Returns Happy Meal toys. Maybe. However, there are a few things to watch this week!

LCD Soundsystem played four headlining shows in a row at Terminal 5. This didn't seem out of the ordinary at all; on the contrary, James Murphy has established his place at the top of the DFA dynasty, and his latest album This Is Happening, has already locked down both critical acclaim and rabid fandom.

If you are like me, you probably think most of Ratatat's work sounds the same, but damn, you love it anyway. LP4 is no exception. It sounds like Ratatat, looks like Ratatat, and is AWESOME. It may just be scraps from previous sessions, but it certainly all adds up to quite a feast of goodness.

L.A. electronica group The Glitch Mob often conjures up sounds of reverb, pop-rap, and bass-laden tracks. Justin Boreta, Ed Ma, and Josh Mayer promise their debut, Drink The Sea, is made "without gimmicks - no glitches, crazy edits or bizarre effects." Rest assured, though, the sound is still purely Glitch Mob; even without the craziness, the band still manages to maintain their dance music sound with a dash of trip-hop.

The Memorial Day Weekend festival in Washington state features Pavement, LCD Soundsystem, MGMT, Vampire Weekend, the National, Broken Social Scene, the xx, and a bunch more. It's the unofficial start to summer. Let's see what we should be seeing!

GAME OVER LOST. Six years of a life is a LONG TIME to be committed to something, especially when it doesn't answer your questions. In the case of millions of Americans, Lost has lasted longer than 50% or more of Marriages* It ended last night. Also a notable philanthropist is in the hospital, and wrote a song with "Bloody" in the title, so naturally the puns abound. Ugh. And nothing is sacred, not even when you die anymore, if you may or may not have invented some sort of "Satantic" hand symbol. Rough times, Ronnie!

Admiral Radley makes it sound like this band is a bunch of stern, seafaring men with big beards and small tempers. Their actual sound is quite the contrary... sunny melodies mixed with a bit of beach savvy, Phantom Planet meets Rooney meets pretty much every other Cali-pop band you can dream up. Their debut album of the same name is set to drop, of all times, during the sprightly month of July. It's low tide*, and "I Heart California" is SPLASHING DOWN RIGHT NOW.

We're really proud of our library of shows here at Baeble... we've been slowly amassing an impressive collection of the best emerging artists in the world when they hit the New York scene, as well as occasionally branching out to other cities for inspiration. The Indie Music Hour, Powered by Baeble Music, will air every Friday at 11 PM, and again at 3 AM. Set those DVRs! Gossip Girl is all reruns anyway. The music video may be new, but the song is not. Last year, LCD Soundsystem released "Bye Bye Bayou", a cover of a track by Suicide frontman Alan Vega, as a 12" single. Today a strange video has surfaced for the track. More after the jump.

Jamie Lidell finds himself in a totally different setting on Compass, an album that seems to have, ironically, almost no direction. This is far from a bad thing; the album itself functions much like a trance, albeit one with severe ADD. Many of the tracks find themselves blurred in blips, Lidell twisting knobs with half-formed motifs fading in and out of drums loops, and his unique brand of electro-soul getting unexpected makeovers left and right (even in the middle of songs). He ruminates on melodies only to about-face into pedal pushing weirdness, and it's just as delightful as it is unpredictable. Compass doesn't lead anywhere, but it does suggest that 'point A' to 'point B' isn't the secret to a fulfilling journey.

Singers can strive for vocal perfection, but on occasion, it's the imperfections that make a great vocalist iconic and instantly recognizable. Alec Ounsworth embodies that aesthetic; the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah front man sticks out like a sore thumb with his undeniably unique caterwaul. The Pennsylvania kid is the quintessential internet success story; CYHSY was formed on Friendster in the mid aughts, and made popular without traditional record label models through non-traditional web dissemination. Much of Ounsworth's early work exists only on the hard-drives of hardcore fans. After his early (and some might say landmark) success with CYHSY, he became well known for his side work with The Pelican Picnic and indie rock-supergroup Flashy Python. In 2009 he released his first solo album, Mo Beauty, on Anti Records. He stopped by the Guest Apartment to give us a taste of his latest work. - Joe Puglisi

Here at Baeble, everything I listen to is classified as "emo". No matter what it is if I listen to it, it's labeled emo by everyone in the office. I consider it to be more pop-punk, but to each his (or her) own. Grudges aside, as the expert on all things "emo" I'm going to be featuring a band that I listen to every Friday. Get ready for your weekly dose of what some call "emo".

Today I'll be introducing you to a band that I have been listening to for a while now, The Goodnight Fellows. My love affair with this pop-heavy Colorado group of guys began when I heard their song "California Girl" for the first time.

The Brooklyn buzz band finally released their four song live set The Rumpus Session, from a Cantora Records/Rumpus Room performance in January (which we mentioned last month, if you remember). The film was directed and edited by Bear Hands member Ted Feldman, with camera work by some well known lens crafters (sorry): Ray Concepcion, Ben Altarescu and Andrei Schwartz. The audio-visual event is availbale for free-nintety nine on the band's website. Get at it, musos!

Whoa, man! Sixty is a big number! The mixtape is old enough to retire, or at least to have grand kids? Methinks it has been ruled too long by ol' grumpy MIA hating King Joe, so I'm excited to have our new batch of summer interns (due next week) shake things up with their young, whippersnapper music taste! I hope no one is a Juggalo! Because T.G.I. Juggalo Free, amirite? Miracles.

Be warned: some manual labor is involved. Anyone who knows The Arcade Fire is probably familiar with their shenanigans. Yesterday-ish they posted up a preview of their new 12" entitled The Suburbs/Month of May, via a few clips of the two tracks. The catch? They are in a flash "record", that YOU have to spin manually with your mouse. Always be inventing new ways to piss us off, internet!

Watch the SNL star promote his new movie, MacGruber, based on the late night character he created, and each subsequent episode, destroys. MacGruber often finds himself blown up after about thirty seconds, usually due to stupidity, lack of skills, or just plain racism. So we're intrigued to see how he fairs for an entire movie of explosions.

Devotees will recall we were filming the Mumford and Sons show on Monday night. A tour of New York isn't complete without some late night appearances, so let's watch them wreck "The Cave" on Fallon last night.

Our favorites Thao with The Get Down Stay Down released a new music video for "Body" directed by my favorite, Glee actress Dianna Agron (for those not in the know, she plays preggers cheerleader Quinn with some baby daddy drama Maury-style). The video plays like the morning after a crazy sex orgy, except without the regret I would imagine would be looming in the room. It's more like they decided to have a dance party instead of awkward goodbyes. The video is streaming exclusively on the Oxfam America site, an international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to poverty and hunger. Cosmogramma's sound is massive, and sounds as though hip-hop, funk, electro, dub, grime and glitch were thrown in a blender with hallucinogens and momentarily turned up to high. The result is still pretty chunky; no sound is completely distilled. The mixture, however, is something special. It's equally at ease when used for a druggy sort of introspection or for raging at a dance party. Most of the time it's both.

How do people find this stuff? Anyways Jack White hid two short tracks on the Sea Of Cowards vinyl, on the paper of both sides of the record. Some kids discovered this, and put up a YouTube video about it. Hear them quick before Jack finds out and they go desert warfare on those kids!.

When asked about the word Woodpigeon, singer Mark Hamilton explained his love for the word, specifically in written in cursive, where it resembles a roller-coaster. An apt comparison for Die Statd Muzikanten, if you consider the coaster to be built out of leaves and tree trunks... Woodpigeon's nocturnes are built for the organic stage, even though they are sometimes excessively electric, explosive and dynamic. Their constructions are simple and comforting, even at their most bombastic. The Calgary band has been around the world, absorbing and gathering influences both introspective and existential, finally landing here in New York for a stop by our office. See a handful of them join us in the Guest Apartment to recreate a few of their most recent songs.

This video from The Mynabirds makes us wish we all had a little more Laura Burhenn in our lives (I suppose after releasing yesterday's guest apartment, we do actually). In this Alan Tanner directed cut for "Numbers Don't Lie", Burhenn, along with a couple harmonizing companions, do their best to give a routine, monotonous day a colorful, confetti kind of kick for one lucky bowling alley employee.

A few weeks ago Joanna Newsom played the Matt Groening curated ATP in Minehead, England. The apparent reward was being forever immortalized in an episode of the Simpsons franchise everyone is always talking about for some reason (just kidding. Doh!).

After receiving and enjoying some fan-made visual takes on their songs, Akron/Family is taking a cue from the digital age of "do-it-yourself" and asking fans to submit their own interpretations of A/F material (from their latest album, Set 'Em Wild, Set 'Em Free). The results so far are really unique and visually intriguing. Check out the band's Vimeo page to see some of the videos, and get inspired. A few examples after the jump.

Stream "Boxer", from their new LP American Slang, on the band's Myspace. The new album, produced by Ted Hutt (who produced the band's last record, #2 in our top albums of 2008 you may recall) is due out in a few weeks, and is said to advance and update their sound. Perhaps they will now be called Electriclight Anthem. Perhaps I will be shot for that joke.

Chaz takes his Toro Y Moi project to a decidedly more band-oriented sound with his newest single, "Leave Everywhere". Chaz did tell me his new priority (circa December) was to compile a band to play his live shows... at the time, he was touring solo with Alan Palomo (Neon Indian) and his band. Now his new 7", due 7/20 in the U.S. and 7/19 in Europe from Carpark, seems purposed to accomplish his goal. Hear the a-side after the jump.

Anyone who closely follows music or the internet probably heard about Greyson Chance, the wunderkid overnight sensation. A colleague of mine emailed a day before the story broke for real; a video of a seemingly amateur kid doing a "Paparazzi" cover circulating the viral channels. A couple thousand hits, nothing major. The next day Chance was at 3 million, and booked for an appearance on Ellen. Memes were right to dub him "Bieber 2.0". Interscope signed the kid before anyone else had a chance to talk to him, and some conspiracy theorists cried party foul. Was the whole thing a fake? Video after the jump!

I wasn't prepared for my first National show to be so very...awkward. It sounds like a disparaging assessment, I know. But in reality, it's that gawky characteristic &mdash Berninger and the brothers Dessner (Aaron and Bryce) and Devendorf (Scott and Bryan), looking a bit out of place, even at their gigantically buzzed about release week show &mdash that provides the reason why it's worth believing in these guys.

Today we will explore the ten year run of "Emo" music in the form of disturbing, sometimes cheaply made music videos that someone somewhere thought were cool. If you intend to actually watch these videos, I cannot emphasize the importance of either A) being all emo or B)Having your will drawn up and a life insurance policy that covers SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION. These videos make this show look like this movie (in the worst way).

The greatest and most incarcerated rapper alive has a message for you. He has his "feet up". Don't worry. Video of the phone call after the jump. Headphones UP for explicit use of n-words.

Boy-girl duos are usually a little more subdued; acoustic guitars or cute-sey bop, a la She and Him or Kaiser Cartel. This is, of course, a gross generalization and probably isn't true, and the first really slamming example is the fist-pumping tunes of Blood Red Shoes. These two give the early Bloc Party blood-pumpers a booster shot of frantic high-hat and two-and-four snare in "Don't Ask", a song that would probably get anything it wanted if it were a person. It may be my soft spot for songs that drive like race-cars, or the flavor of Britishisms in the lyrics, but I love this.

Aphex Twin, AKA Richard D. James, dropped some new material in Metz, France at Centre Pompidou the other night. Now the interwebs are churning to provide you with the video. Check it out after the jump.

Holy f-ck! This album is good! Three albums deep and the name still makes for numerous, albeit bad, jokes. But back to the first part of that sentence: Holy F-ck have released Latin, their third album. The Canadian (which is awesome, IMO LOL!) electro-quartet are back in action. Heavy on the synth and the beats danceable, the record pulses, pops, jumps, bangs and crashes where appropriate. Holy F-ck move towards a decidedly more "rock" sound and a little less experimental this time.

Last night Aussies The Middle East played with Mumford and Sons. And they killed it. In a good (great) way.

The multi-instrumentalists gave out feel good vibes all throughout their set. They opened with "Lonely," which sounded like something out of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, except more enjoyable. Bree Tranter looked lovely as always when she was exuberantly hitting that tambourine or banging out notes on her keyboard or playing her flute with ferocity.

The atmosphere at Music Hall Of Williamsburg last night was thick; like a down blanket, or a warm piece of cake, or any number of your favorite comfortable things (pick one). That can probably be attributed to the lush harmonies and textures of Mumford and Sons, a group of musicians (and not a family owned apothecary) who knocked several out of the park during their sold-out show at Music Hall Of Williamsburg. From the schizophrenic instrument swaps to the bass-drum heavy foot-stomping tunes, Mumford and Sons produce a slice of music that is both wonderful and intrinsically dashing... and our cameras will prove it.

In New York City, the dedicated bands Dr. Dog and Deer Tick played a nutso show at Terminal Five on Saturday to conclude a US tour, each promoting an album... Dr. Dog with Shame, Shame (out now), and Deer Tick with the forthcoming The Blackdirt Sessions (out 6/8). These are their stories. BOM BOM.

Today's Guest Apartment artist the Mynabirds are bouncing around the country. We thought you might want to catch them when they roll through your hood. Laura Burhenn and her band will spend the month of June running from state to state. Check out the dates after the jump.

The eleventh studio album from the Roots crew (from the illadelph) will be named after the one track we heard from last year (you can still hear it). How I Got Over is due 6/22 via Def Jam.

Laura Burhenn's debut album under The Mynabirds moniker is a blast of old-timey gospel, folk, and rhythm and blues. Titled What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood (Saddle Creek), the album sounds like Burhenn - who once called herself half of the indie rock duo Georgie James - reaching back, pulling her favorite classic records off the shelf, letting them spin through the night, and seeing what sticks in the morning....as it should. When the Omaha based musician stopped by the Guest Apartment earlier this year, some revealing conversation suggested that's exactly what happened over the course of the recording process.

In our latest episode of the Guest Apartment, Burhenn joins us in the piano room to discuss her new project, as well as present a few bare bones versions of three of her album's songs. Though stripped of some of the more ornate sonic accessories featured on the record, performances of "The Ways of Looking", "Let The Record Go", and "What We Gain in the Fire" still convey Burhenn's charm, endearing personality, as well as a poignant sense of intimacy as she plays through them. Inter-cut with engaging conversation, Baeble is proud to present this unique look at a very promising solo musician we think you'll soon be hearing a lot about.

Another music video by The Black Keys, who are on a HOT STREAK of videos. In "Tighten Up", the kids of the band find themselves caught in a love triangle which quickly escalates to include our heroes the Keys. Oh, and jokes about how little kids smell. After the jump, we hit the playground.

Love Is All have been mining the same angular, hook-driven pop punk since 2006's, Nine Times That Same Song, and they've stuck to their guns on their third record, Two Thousand and Ten Injuries. While there are still strong traces of Blondie, most clearly on the albums opener "Bigger, Bolder," they are now able to pull off incorporating more unlikely influences, like The Mamas and The Papas, on the insanely catchy "Kungen," with its "ba-ba-ba" chorus.

The "New York Mets" of Austin's popular music festival scene is undoubtedly the Austin City Limits festival (over 130 bands on 8 stages in 3 days! How cute!). The boutique fest caters to a slightly different audience than the powerhouse SXSW. But the TERRIBLE (and I can't stress how terrible, you need to see it for yourself) video promoting/announcing the lineup has revealed a pretty decent roster of artists. We're talking great acts like The Strokes, Spoon, Yeasayer, The National, Vampire Weekend, Local Natives, and more. Oh, Muse will be there too, for the main-streamers. Not sure what the Eagles are all about. And MIA will do something, but who cares. Video after the jump.

Although Villagers sounds like a Chinese knockoff version of M. Night Shamaylan (and let's face it, probably far superior) and "Becoming A Jackal" sounds like a number from Tim Rice and Elton John's Aida, I assure you NEITHER OF THOSE THINGS IS HAPPENING HERE. In fact, Connor O'Brien and his dark pop has been at the top of Irish music interests for some time. He describes his music as "dark imagery or feelings alongside really mundane domestic everyday things". Would you like some pie with your MURDER? Just kidding, it's fun for the whole family!

Hear a track off Revolutions Per Minute, the new record from Reflection Eternal, the banging combo of activism-minded rapper Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek. It's their first album in a decade (since their 2000 debut), so anticipation is at an all time EXCITED. The record features collaborations with Estelle, Bun B, Mos Def, Jay Electronica, and J. Cole.

This week isn't in-your-face action, but there are some SOLID nights, especially WEDNESDAY, which is jam packed with some big artists.

A few weeks ago we warned you all about the Free Energy video shooting in Philadelphia, and its need for YOU. Those lucky kids who got in to the shoot help the band take over a high school in "Bang Pop", which includes grumpy adults, and even a shower scene? Man, my high school was all knife fights and bomb scares. We NEVER did any synchronized dancing.

The Heavy announced some new US tour dates today, with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. Anyone familiar with either is probably giggling with anticipation. While they aren't spicing up Kia commercials and impressing Letterman, The Heavy literally light the stage on fire. We know, because we filmed it.

There are two types of experimental musicians. The first experiments out of necessity; as a way to consciously differentiate one's sound from music's ongoing narrative. This is something that must be deliberately worked at, and requires talent, guts and near-perfect timing to pull off successfully. The second type of musician experiments because, well, they're bored. These guys are the genre benders who &mdash for lack of better descriptors — are so "good" at making music that traditional mechanical confines are not only insipid— they're invisible. My gut tells me that Anticon's Dosh falls clearly in the latter.

Check out this old school POBPAH remix from the Higher Than The Stars EP, one of my favorite remixes of a song I already immensely enjoy. It's Friday, and today's MP3 should be a dance-worthy rev-up FOR DA CLUB. Although this remix is a little more melow than, say, the Kele "I'm on crack" tracks from earlier, this is a great one to warm up to, and a great re-thinking of the POBPAH eyes-on-the-shoes aesthetic.

This was as comfortable a session as they come...Norwegian songwriter Ane Brun and her publicist easily braving the mighty 5 story climb to the guest apartment, and settling right in for a warm, glowing acoustic session of a few songs, as well as some candid conversation. In this, our latest Guest Apartment release, Brun discusses both her own personal history behind the guitar, and the slow yet steady rise through the ranks of some of the finest contemporary songwriters alive. It's a journey that was recently given a certified moon shot by a recent string of dates with Peter Gabriel. Brun also hints a bit at what might lay in store for her music in the future. All in all, this is a short enlightened look at a talented musician, all intercut with three endearing, acoustic performances of the songs that are making Brun an international wonder.

Shamelessly nostalgic band The Pains of Being Pure at Heart serve up a little romance with this NYC centric, video for "Higher Than the Stars". It's a hell of a costume party these kids dream up, with one reluctant leading lady eventually being wooed by her shaggy suitor. Fun.

Hear some new stuff from The Boxer, Kele Okerek's forthcoming solo album and side project/time off from his band Bloc Party. "RISE" and "Walk Tall" after the jump, gladiators!

Rock band Wilco is curating a new festival, an independently promoted and ticketed three-day event of music, art, comedy, film and interactivity at MASS MoCA on August 13th through the 15th in North Adams, MA. The roster includes some new young talent, like Avi Buffalo, who wowed with their debut earlier today, as well as old pros like Vetiver.

This week features songs from everyone (except Ke$ha), including the first single from my rap group. I am obviously kidding, we've had many singles, we're already triple platinum in the Ukraine. But it does include some of the weeks best albums, The Black Keys and The National. It includes some SPANKIN' NEW music too, that is totally SFW, and especially suitable for your ears.

The Hold Steady got the Colbert bump last night via both an interview and a live performance, where Colbert reminded everyone that "Heaven is whenever Jesus can fit you in". Please welcome some of the Hold Steady!

Avi Buffalo are just a couple of 19ish year olds, and their debut record sound is sort of mirror-like in it's reflection of the fact; scratchy voices that are obsessed with identity and spacial boundaries both physical and emotional.

ZOMG The National brought Sufjan with them and played my number one jam from High Violet! And "these beats are DOPE" -Aziz Ansari. Everybody be hyperventilating over here. Click please.

POBPAH dropped two new tracks this week, presumably to satiate fans until their next record, which isn't going to surface until next spring (according to the wires, or maybe my wizard-like prediction skills). The (very short) Say No To Love EP is a companion to the video for "Higher Than The Stars", which also dropped yesterday, and features a lonely girl who finds her party with a bunch of life-sized stuffed animals. It is exactly what it sounds like. Anyways, hear "Say No To Love" and "Lost Saint" after the jump.

An intrepid Arcade Fire fan caught a curious banner on their website redesign... a few people got the scoop before it was stripped. It read "Arcade Fire Presents: "The Suburbs". Let's speculate!

I sat down with Justin Aufdenkampe, guitarist of the hardcore band Miss May I to discuss his passion for the music he gets to play everyday.

At this point, The Black Keys are synonymous. Between extremely successful side projects and partnerships (Danger Mouse, BlakRoc, Jessica Lea Mayfield) and a respectable body of work, the name is less of a placeholder and more of an idea; a brand of blue-sy jive, and well-produced swagger (coming to a store near you). And like most brands, they are big because they do what they do well, and in massive quantities. Brothers is no exception, clocking in at an hour, spread across fifteen tracks. It's worth noting: the files I received are huge (typically clocking in at 3-5 MB per song, each track is ten times that size), and that is probably the only acceptable way to own this thing in digital form. The sound is so engrossing it's almost tactile. The only way to listen to the record is high-fidelity, and loud.

The first line is about needing rehab, and at one point she calls herself a crack-head, so maybe she is learning? Wait, no she isn't. Neon body paint. Drug cartoons. At one point she is wearing what looks like a fishing net from the 1800s. "Your Love Is My Drug" after the jump, as long as you haven't had lunch yet.

If the line snaking back to Union Pool's infamous taco truck was any indication, Brooklyn-natives Phosphorescent have affectionately outgrown the confines of their hometown. Playing a sold-out show, the sextet seamlessly churned out over an hour's worth of tunes new and old to a room of sometimes screaming, often drunk, always adoring fans.

Continuing his stellar video tradition under the Ramona Falls moniker, Menomena member Brent Knopf shows the desperate lengths people go to in order to impress (or say "I'm Sorry" to) the ones they love the most in this video for "Russia". Here, an inventive fellow is in hot pursuit of what is one tough cookie...with comical results.

Watch B.o.B. display a ridiculous amount of versatility during his two-song performance on Kimmel last night. He performed "Nothin' On You" and "Lovelier Than You".

Jack White and Allison Mosshart just can't stop pumping your speakers full of scuzzy, in-your-face rock and roll. It's the Dead Weather MO, no fake. And with the release of Sea Of Cowards, their second full length in just under a year (seriously), there is ample opportunity to soak up as much gritty riffage as you can handle. Naturally, this means its time for free stuff, via lady luck, for the price of an email. Stop shooting guns at each other for a second and throw your name in the hat.

For those of you who live under a rock, superglued to a coma: White Panda is a banging team of remixers who just make cool sh*t all day. And I'm so glad they do. Long live the ridiculous, unsuspecting, and ultimately genius mash-up genre. Who would have thought to overlay these Drake verses over "Jack and Diane"? Is it even called that? I have no idea, but "Drake and Diane" is going to be blasting my neighbors to hell tonight.

When Beach House took the stage last week at Webster Hall, it was no wonder that even with a packed house, a number of fans were positioned outside the venue in hopes of sneaking in; the dream pop outfit had a set that was by all accounts majestic and stirring.

Watch the Wesleyan goof-troop perform on Letterman, as well as an hour long webcast concert on Live On Letterman, a new series from CBS broadcast live from the Ed Sullivan theatre.

Can you dance to a mid-life crisis? That's the question James Murphy seems to be asking on This Is Happening, the third and perhaps final LCD Soundsystem record. Rampant internet speculation that this is the band's swan song, is backed up by the corrosive, weary world view that permeates the album.

*BEST OF SHOW* Last week, we had a double feature extravaganza with two coasts representing. On the East, newcomers and Modest Mouse derivative (in sound, anyway) Suckers wore strange outfits (mostly just that cape!), and looked like they just woke up from an evening of heavy drinking with the frat (with a giant phallus on the lead singers face, among other hilarious bits). From the West, CMJ buzzband (for me at least) Local Natives tore up their debut record Gorilla Manor with harmonies galore and LA hipster mustaches. See more of what I mean after the jump.

Sean Bones and friends are getting the actor bump in Wah Do Wem, a movie about a recently dumped Brooklyn skateboarder who wins a free cruise, and subsequently gets lost in Jamaica (sounds ripe for parody!).

Adding to the already massive week they're already having (new album, their own pop up store/gallery in NYC), The National reveal this stark grey video for first single, "Bloodbuzz Ohio". It's mainly a one man show, with vocalist Matt Beringer moping about the city, intercut with a few lonely dance moves for the camera. Filmmaker DA Pennebaker makes a cameo appearance as a bartender as well. The clip is directed by Hope Hall, Andreas Burgess, and Matt's wife Carin Besser.

I'm not entirely sure what "midgets in the desert" sound like, but if that's how Lovedrug describe their music, then I like it. I talked with vocalist/guitarist Michael Shepard and bassist Thomas Bragg for a quick interview at Bamboozle.

Broken Social Scene took a most triumphant stab at two of the cities' venues this past weekend, coming out of both live ordeals with their daggers deservedly pierced with a whole lot of dough. Selling out both Webster Hall (Friday) and the Music Hall of Williamsburg (Saturday) tends to do that sort of thing for a band. So while Kevin Drew and Co. head off to England counting their good fortune, we're recounting the weekend that was, with an oh so satisfied feeling enveloping those of us who were lucky enough to cover the shows.

There is seriously NO END to the f-cking insanity. High Violet is foreboding and bleak, but appropriately dressed for the occasion; in this instance, The National opted to sound less like the tormented youth embodied by oft compared Joy Division, and instead sound like the tormented maturity embodied in a Vonnegut novel. High Violet is rebellion grown-up and it's fantastic.

The satisfaction Holy F*ck take from being a band - a band at SXSW nonetheless - is plain to see in our latest concert release. Here, headlining our 2010 SXSW Day Party, the Toronto based four piece soak up the moment, letting their hard hitting, electro rock renditions wash over both their own bodies, and the packed house lined along the stage to take it all in. This is intense music meant for inhaling and letting circulate all throughout the bloodstream. Performing a slate of songs from their just released album Latin (out today on Young Turks), the potency of their own music put some pep in the band's step, and plastered a general look of contentment across their faces. That kind of personal absorption obviously managed to find it's way to the crowd, creating what was probably the most enthusiastic response for any one band at the party. Today, we're pleased to release the show, allowing the performance to seep through the monitors/speakers and inebriate those of you at home for the first time. Careful...too much of this might have you feeling a little woozy.

"Baeble Music Showcase was by far the best". The boys of Holy F*ck had a lot to say over the course of this interview with Joe P. But for some reason, that's all we really heard.

Last Friday I promised we'd go a little in depth with George Lewis Jr. (better known as Twin Shadow). Below is my chat with him, where we discussed his trajectory from the Dominican Republic, to European love affairs, to the Twin Shadow project in New York. Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor and his imprint, Terrible Records, which was started with Ethan Silverman (who comes up briefly in our chat), took notice of George in an interesting way... a partnership that has led to the first LP from Twin Shadow (and the name was divulged! Maybe! Read on!).

Describing themselves as a mix of hip hop and pop punk, Ohio natives Let's Get It have one goal: to inspire you. That's what they want to do when you hear their music and see them play. I sat down with Joe Gilford (vocals), Taylor Foiles (bass), Tyler Smyth (guitar/keyboard), and Chris Lairmore (guitar/keyboard) in a hotel pool. I conducted the interview on my sh*tty tape recorder since I left my Flip Cam in my room, so sorry if I didn't get their words exactly right. Gayngs is a Minnesotan pot-luck of musicians, styles, and aesthetics hosted by producer Ryan Olson, featuring members of Bon Iver, Megafaun, The Rosebuds, Solid Gold, Doomtree, and more! When first plopped on your headphones, Gayngs is supremely confusing. "Faded High" runs like a five course meal, after the blender, chugged in seven minutes. But if you like molecular gastronomy (Google that sh*t), and music that sounds like a Picasso portrait on crack, then Relayted is your jam!

Lady Gaga may be the princess of weirdos in the mainstream, but Joanna Newsom is forever our indie weirdo queen. And she had some funny stuff to say about Gaga, including calling her "Arty Spice". LIL*!

Whether you prefer their earlier, lo-fi work like their 2004 debut, La Maison de Mon Reve, or their more recent forays into a broader sonic landscape, sisters Bianca and Sierra Casady continue to turn out music that sounds like nothing else.

Is it just me, or has there been a disconcerting increase of natural disasters lately? (this isn't a country music joke). One music city is pondering where the media attention is for their crisis, while new(ish) bands lose original members, and old bands continue to make money (even if it's just for their estates). There is good news in here somewhere, I swear!

In the second installment of this hypnotic, musical series, Reuben Metzler heads to Gowanus Brooklyn to spend some time with the ambitious occupants of Providence RI's The Low Anthem. What follows is a pretty compelling slice of everyday road life for this incredible roots/rock band - the load in, the sound check, the downtime, the candid moments, and the sold out performance. As the self-appointed official Bamboozle expert here at Baeble, I, Hanna Kasper, decided to do a special multiple part series on this year's festivities. That's right, I spent three days in the blistering hot New Jersey meadowlands all for you. Luckily my efforts and sun poisoning paid off. As previously mentioned, we love fun. And I got to interview them behind the scenes after their set on Sunday. We discussed music, Ke$ha, and why Jimmy Dugan should stay away from the clap, among other things.

The Radio Dept. are an odd band. This fact is immediately evident on the opening track of their 2010 release, Clinging To A Scheme. The opener, "Domestic Scene" is monstrously textured and a little erratic but it's actually a fairly solid primer for the rest of the album. Clinging To A Scheme is an album about finding melody in static.

Keep your eyes peeled for more from these eccentric, mostly young, and all very talented directors. Vulture has a pretty great list of up and coming music video makers (and their work). Check it out.

Prepare your eyes, because you are going to need to delouse yourself after this one (TWSS). You think Lady GaGa is some sort of genius in the "avant garde" music video department? Think again, noob! Some of these popular songs have music videos that make Lady GaGa look like the sesame street of the music video PBS scale of innocence. Plus, adjust for censorship deflation, and some of these have the content equivalent of a)an LSD trip, or b)Eyes Wide Shut meets Saw IV making a TV debut on NBC in 1979. And they didn't even have sideboob back then!

Ratatat has announced LP4, the long rumored fourth LP (no doy), will be released 6/8 on XL. Hear the new song "Party With Children", streaming Pitchsclusively, no doy again.

Rafter cordially invites you to a super-keen, neat-o party. David Byrne is there. Thomas Dolby too. And isn't that Jamiroquai in the corner? The new Rafter record, Animal Feelings, contains all the white boy funk you can shake a stick at, kicking off with the vocoder drenched "No Fucking Around." This song sets a pattern that Rafter will follow through most of the ten songs on the album. There's a tom-tom heavy beat, some clanking percussion and a couple of instrumental elements, like the Wally Badarou influenced, percolating synths in "Feels Good" or the Soweto-style electric guitar in "Timeless Form, Formless Time." But there's one thing missing from the equation: Bass. Try to imagine P-Funk without Bootsy, Motown without Jamerson, James Brown without Fred Thomas and you'll get a sense of how much you won't want to dance to Animal Feelings.

This isn't strictly artist related, but it goes out to all you music nerds: A North Carolina brewery is creating a micro-brew in honor of music pioneer Bob Moog.

Moog Filtered Ale is described as "an American-style pale ale with distinctive notes of caramel and pine a very accessible beer that reflects the Moog legacy" by Asheville Brewing Company brewer Doug Riley.

Since today is my birthday, I can do whatever I want obviously. And since I'm hungover from last night at midnight, I'm going to plug one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite records of the year. Despite the complete lack of chronology/continuity in posting, and the groans from the cool kids. You can take your electro-spittle and shove it. DFA let Stuck On Nothing loose a month ago, and it contains the track on my iTunes with the highest play-count (from 2010). This song even beat out everything off Odd Blood, and anyone who knows me knows I DRUMLINED that record into oblivion. Anyway, you all have heard about Free Energy, so get some free Free Energy after the jump. Dancing required.

The harp-happy troubadour played "81" on Later With Jools Holland last night (our afternoon?) in the UK. You're either going to love it or love it.

Bloc Party's frontman Kele Okereke is planning a tour to promote his solo album release (6/22 in the U.S. via Glassnote). The Boxer (based on first single "Tenderoni") promises to be an industrial hot-house dance-a-thon, despite sounding like a Kraft product. Check out the dates below.

Minus The Bear have done quite of bit of trekking and touring (nine years!), as they made clear by their style (even in secret); a respectable bus, towels for all, and a powerhouse 90 minute set. But their secret show at the Bowery Electric had all the underground energy of a hype-machine band at their first show in New York City. Far from Seattle, MTB still found a loyal group of fans lining the (kind of small) walls of the downstairs club, singing along and doing as much dancing as a New York City crowd ever does (save for the midnight raves). Most people know Cee-Lo as one-half of the avant-hop duo Gnarls Barkley (along with producer Danger Mouse), but the soulful rapper has a fairly respectable body of work on his own (albeit grossly under appreciated). This radio rip of a potential new track off his forthcoming record, Lady Killer certainly would suggest he's still got it, Mouse or no Mouse.

Trent Reznor and his wife have released their first song under the new moniker "How To Destroy Angels". Pitchfork has the exclusive stream, because Trent Reznor (along with MIA, and a select few others) have Pitchfork's mighty lips pressed firmly on their behinds. Regardless, I post a link here because it's an awesome song.

For most bands, four albums in ten years would be a guaranteed recipe for failure, a sort of musical foreplay that, frankly, takes too long to stay exciting. But Broken Social Scene is not like most bands with their rotating nineteen-man line-up, each of them bringing sounds and styles from various side projects, and their enviable ability to create just about any kind of ambiance they want. So it's fitting that fans not only will flock to pick up the band's first LP in five years, Forgiveness Rock Record, but even more so that whatever lapse in recording has passed seems to have been worth the wait.

These United States are a bit more irreverent than their patriotic name would suggest, but it's certainly accurate locationally speaking. Their drink-and-smoke, all American rock is like a cold beer at a pig roast in Kentucky. On stage, they are just about as much fun (if not more). When Jesse Elliott let us know that he and his mighty band These United States would be rolling through the Austin area for a handful of SXSW shenanigans, well...we knew we better hop to it! We of course have been following the trajectory of this DC/Kentucky based ensemble for the better part of the last three years. The idea of throwing them up on our stage in front of our cameras was just too tempting to pass up. So we made some calls, squeezed some arms, and wouldn't you know? The band delivered, giving the rustic confines of the Scoot's old, slightly dilapidated indoor beer bar a nice shake to the tune of a batch of rowdy, southern tinged rock and roll songs.

Check out the Wales band play two acoustic songs on a couch. I don't usually republish content that is strikingly similar to our own Guest Apartment (because its usually blah-lity stuff), but The Tripwire did a session with Los Campesinos! that you might miss if you blink. Suckers have a debut album coming out in June, and "Black Sheep" starting circling the net around the time of SXSW. When we first heard the stellar Brooklyn band inked a deal with Frenchkiss, it was all high-fives and great success. And the first track confirmed FK will continue their already peculating reputation with Suckers.
