Ah, the Grammys. Music's night out! (or something like that). Anyway, The Grammys are on Sunday (8/7c) and we gotta be excited. What else are a bunch of music fans supposed to do on Sunday night? LL Cool J hosts his second Grammy Awards in a row, and performances include: The Black Keys and Dr. John, fun., Mumford & Sons, Elton John, Bruno Mars and Sting, Miguel and Wiz Khalifa, Frank Ocean, Justin Timberlake, and Jack White. It should be quite a spectacle. Of course, then there are the actual prizes. This year, we put together a list of favorites and predictions for some of the 55th Annual Grammy Awards.

    Record of the Year

    and the Nominees are:

"Lonely Boy" - The Black Keys
"Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" - Kelly Clarkson
    "We Are Young" - Fun
"Somebody That I Used to Know" - Gotye
"Thinkin Bout You" - Frank Ocean
"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" - Taylor Swift

I think _________ should win: Taylor Swift
but ______ will probably win.: fun.

You thought I'd pick Frank Ocean, didn't you? Honestly, I like Channel Orange as a whole, but as a Grammy-deserving single "Thinkin Bout You" loses to at least a couple of the other nominations. It was a tough choice between my two biggest guilty pleasures of the year: Kelly Clarkson's dance-along girl(or mom)-power anthem "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" and of course Taylor Swift's infectious "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together". I have to go for the latter here. Swift's hit is exactly what I like to hear from a teen-pop smash. It's my choice, but I don't think it infected the pop media in 2012 quite like fun.'s soundtrack-to-everything "We Are Young," which I predict to win Record of the Year.

    Album of the Year

    and the Nominees are:

El Camino - The Black Keys
    Some Nights - fun.
    Babel - Mumford & Sons
    Channel Orange - Frank Ocean
    Blunderbuss - Jack White

I think _________ should win: Channel Orange
but ______ will probably win.: Channel Orange

I think Frank might do it with this one. It's a great album. I think it deserves the award more than the other nominees, and if Frank Ocean is going to take home one Grammy, it should be the biggie. That's really all I have to say about that.

    Song of the Year

    and the Nominees are:

"The A Team" - Ed Sheeran
    "Adorn" - Miguel
"Call Me Maybe" - Carly Rae Jepsen
"Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" - Kelly Clarkson
    "We Are Young" - fun.

I think _________ should win: "Adorn"
but ______ will probably win.: "Call Me Maybe"

"Love ain't never looked so good on ya." Self-written and produced, Miguel's "Adorn" has a lot going for it. Its lyrics of pure affection aren't explicitly sexual, but the subtleties of everything else about the song makes it feel that way. From the ground-level bass pulse to Miguel's aerial falsetto, "Adorn" is a unique, passionate, soulful, and well-written track. Of course, The Grammys aren't famous for getting it right, which is why "Call Me Maybe" will probably take the award. Whatever.

    Best New Artist

    and the Nominees are:

    Alabama Shakes
    fun.
    Hunter Hayes
    The Lumineers
    Frank Ocean

I think _________ should win: Frank Ocean
but ______ will probably win.: Frank Ocean

I don't know who the Alabama Shakes are, or Hunter Hayes, and I think the Lumineers are absolutely terrible. That leaves us with... really?? fun. again? and Franky O. Well, obviously Frank is the best "artist" here, but it goes a little deeper than that with this category, I think. I actually have no clue how the Grammys are chosen (and I don't really care), but I think the way Frank Ocean received much-deserved hype and support, justified by a great album, and became the "everybody's-talking-about" for a while, deserves him the spot, by definition, of Best New Artist.

    Best Alternative Music Album

    and the Nominees are:

The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do - Fiona Apple
    Biophilia - Bjork
    Making Mirrors - Gotye
    Hurry Up, We're Dreaming - M83
Bad as Me - Tom Waits

I think _________ should win: Fiona Apple
but ______ will probably win.: Fiona Apple

For this category, we took a little vote here at Baeblemusic. The results are in! Fiona Apple will take home the Best Alternative Music Album award with her comeback record The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the car and the car will swerve off road and somethin'-somethin' drug bust somethin'.... It is a good album and it would be her first Grammy since "Criminal" won Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Here's to good music, and possibly seeing Fiona Apple mouth off on national television again. Even though that wasn't at the Grammys.

Who do you think will walk out with a golden Gramophone? Put your picks in the comments below, and watch the Grammys with Baeblemusic Sunday, as we live-blog the event right here.
