From The Dodos'
fourth studio album No Color
, "Don't Stop" is actually (funnily enough) full of color. It's a frantically forlorn track that has both peaceful and unsettling elements, steaming together in an eclectic pot.
The anxious beat never falters as it remains fast paced throughout the entire song, accompanied by an equally swift acoustic guitar. There are interspersed inclusions of mournful electric guitar and piano notes, and these moments create an interesting contrast with the song's frenzied rhythm. The vocals seem to carry a mix of these ingredients; though paced much slower and clearly filled with an ebbing sadness, there is still the hint of a burning flame within them. It is definitely an intriguing track, and despite its frantic boil, does not get lost within its layers. Instead, it holds enough mysterious anguish to capture even the most impatient of listeners in its aroma.
Well, luckily, we won't have to wait too long to smell the whole thing. No Color
will be out on March 15th, and until then you can treat your ears (nose?) to "Don't Stop", below.
