Frontman for The Pogues
Shane MacGowan recruited a few famous friends to make a charity song for Haiti. In the video are Johnny Depp, Nick Cave, Chrissie Hynde, and Bobby Gillespie, to name a few. The song being covered is Screamin' Jay Hawkins' "I Put a Spell on You".
It's a great track that brings with it an even better sentiment. The song builds to a rocking finish with Nick Cave and MacGowan screaming over Johnny Depp soloing on guitar. Plus, with the saxophones added in around the bridge, the whole thing is just a great smoky rock song. The homegrown approach of MacGowan's charity song is probably, though, the most endearing. It's nice to know that no matter who you are there's a way you can help no matter how small. For more info go to
