"I hope I can inspire you guys as much as the Flaming Lips have inspired me to always be myself and to make music because I love it and always invent something new for my fans," said an anxious Miley Cyrus to her fans at the Staples Center this weekend in LA. The singer buzzed with excitement as a chrome balloon of the words 'FUCK YEAH' emerged from the sidelines attached to Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips.
"You guys don't understand what the fuck is happening to me right now... I'm fucking so scared," Cyrus confessed to Coyne and her fans from behind an over sized T-shirt of her own face. "Now I'm scared," reciprocated Coyne before the two dove into rendition number one of the Lips' "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots".
It appears that the Flaming Lips and Miley Cyrus don't have much of a crossover in their fan base. Miley seemed to be the most enthusiastic fan in the stadium. The two had an easy banter, and the duet is worth a watch. Cyrus's low raspy vocals lend themselves to Coyne's super human tale. If anyone's got a little Yoshimi in them it's Cyrus. While she's still a punk ass kid, Miley is in constant fisticuffs with the evil machines of main stream media. Between her killer chords and less than cool banter with Coyne, the clip inspires a little solidarity with the notoriously classless kid.
