1. The 1975 - Shes American
To start off the party, I always suggest The 1975. With their new album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are so Beautiful Yet so Unaware of It, they changed to a new pop sound and display 80s influences to get everyone get into the groove. Their track "She's American", talks about culture differences and stereotypes of British men that his American lover keeps mentioning.
"If she likes it 'cause we just don't eat
And we're so intelligent, she's American
If she says I've got to fix my teeth
Then she's so American (she's American)"
2. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - "American Girl"
The lighthearted and fun track "American Girl", later became a favorite for its catchy lyrics and being so upbeat. With a sweet bassline towards the end and a chorus we all love to sing along to.
"Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl"
3. Bruce Springsteen - Born in the U.S.A.
This classic became a favorite and helped the album becoming one of his biggest selling albums. Springsteen discusses the distressing effects of the Vietnam War on Americans. This song was loved by many from American and overseas.
"Born in the U.S.A., I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A., born in the U.S.A."
4. Lady Gaga - "Americano"
With lots Spanish influences, this very upbeat club song tells the love story between two lesbians. This unique song has Gaga singing in Spanish and more, which makes for an essential party song.
5. Miley Cyrus - "Party in the U.S.A."
Of course, it had to be on this list - all ages can sing along and relate. Cyrus talks about moving from Tennessee to California and all the new fame and changes that came with it.
