I'mma let you finish (that meme will never die) but
Kanye West remains one of the biggest perpetual hype machines of all time. We've heard the megalomaniacal excess and debauchery of
Watch the Throne, and we're still waiting for something in hip-hop to come close to topping the trail-blazing
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. The 30 minute short film,
Runaway, was one of the most bizarre, post-modern, and brilliant things Kanye's ever done, and it seems like Yeezy is up to his old tricks again with a new short film to be shot in the Middle East.
Sources at
the New York Observer broke the story. It has been reported that the film will star non-professional actors from the region and that 'Ye is hoping to create a realistic vision of the culture of this region. This sounds like a far cry from the art-house film that was
Runaway, but if it's a chance to get Kanye behind the camera one more time, count us in. Details are still vague on when the film will be released, what it will be called, or what it will even be about besides these vague drips of info, but if there's one thing Yeezy taught me (see what we did there?), it's that he does it big.
