Somewhere beneath the looming trend of whatever "chillwave" actually is, electro-rock has been paralyzed and pegged as either cheesy, nu-wave, or Passion Pit. That is why its good to see a keyboard-hungry electronic feet-mover like Woodhands
coming to the surface. They made a splash at SXSW '09 according to the interweb, and wrote a song that was basically a big f&mdash you to P4K. (tell us more!)
Dan Werb and Paul Banwatt are from Toronto (naturally), and they make some pretty aggressive love songs (the screams in "Dancer" are interesting!), but the beats are great. I bet these guys just destroy it live. You can't tell if you're in a video game or at a rave, both but seem pretty OK when Woodhands are involved.
Actually it is probably the club. Their latest collection of recordings, Remorsecapade
is out digital on 2/23. -joe puglisi
