It's pretty much impossible to overstate the influence of krautrock/electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk. Along with bands like Neu!, Kraftwerk went on to lay the building blocks for essentially the entirety of modern alternative and electronic music. David Bowie (specifically the "Berlin" trilogy), Radiohead (from OK Computer onward), and literally scores of other artists like Brian Eno or Joy Division owe an unfathomable debt to these German trailblazers. Kraftwerk will be staging an eight evening retrospective covering their entire 40 year career starting 4/10 at MoMA. Each evening will highlight one of their seminal albums (starting with 1974's Autobahn). If you're too young to know who Kraftwerk is, you just need to stop whatever you're doing and put in Trans Europe Express and prepare to have your mind blown by the sheer number of genres these men would either create (essentially from scratch) or inspire to create.
