It's been quite a week for James Murphy and LCD Soundsystem
. Since announcing the band's intent to call it a career, the band has sold out a culminating bash at the world's most famous arena, responded to the gold rush on tickets by blasting legal scalping services like StubHub via twitter, and booked an additional four shows (an effort to both provide fans/family an opportunity to see the band AND water down the supply of tickets for the MSG show money grubbing scalpers are currently hording ) at Terminal 5 in the run-up to the big bon voyage.
Last night the band gave a different sort of finale, choosing The Colbert Report to host the band's final television appearance. And though LCD performed a rather fitting rendition of "I Can Change", it's Murphy's interview with Colbert that is most interesting and amusing. Despite Colbert's warnings that retirees suffer from severe lack of access to "honey dipped co-eds", Murphy remained adamant of his desire to call it quits saying, "at a certain point it gets embarrassing". We think that age should be closer to 70, but hey...the man want's to do other things.
Before he does, watch the clips below and be sure to try and snag tickets for the bands' run on Terminal 5 March 28th through the 31st this Friday, February 18th.
