If you had to guess which musical artist would be appearing on CW's Gossip Girl
for their Valentine's Day episode, St. Vincent
probably wouldn't come to mind. Tonight, the baroque-pop artist will be performing "Cruel," off the band's most recent album Strange Mercy
at a ritzy party. Annie Clark has admitted that some of her inspiration when creating the album came from her fear of monogamy, her femininity and even Marilyn Monroe, making the appearance less unseemly as they touch upon some of the shows less sophisticated but similar concepts. If Clark did have any uneasiness about the gig, though, she made sure to remind us that she is still as mad as her music expresses, tweeting that, "They don't show when I smash my guitar on the bar, but pretty sure they will tonight." Here's a short version of what you can expect tonight.
