• A Brilliantly Haunting Score for Stoker
Yesterday, while tearing through my daily bounty of CDs, I came across an interesting cover. It was sinister, intricate, black and white, and had a tiny Nicole Kidman face placed near the bottom. Of course I was interested. After further investigation (aka reading the title), I learned that it was the soundtrack to Chan-wook Park's upcoming crap-your-pants-intense thriller, Stoker. If you're unfamiliar with the Korean auter's work, he's best known for writing and directing the 2003 mind-fuck Oldboy, which is currently being remade in the US by Spike Lee. Stoker, his American directorial debut, stars Nicole Kidman and Mia Wasikowska (Alice In Wonderland), and although the plot is a bit vague, it appears to be as haunting as his entire catalogue.

Chan-wook Park isn't known for cutting any corners, and for the Stoker soundtrack, he enlisted Darren Aronofsky's right-hand-man, Clint Mansell (Requiem For A Dream, The Wrestler, Black Swan, etc.).

Although we're not in the classical music/movie score biz, when we saw Phillip Glass' soundtrack contribution, "Duet", go live, we felt compelled to share the beautifully menacing chiller. Listen below.

We also noticed the soundtrack's bonus track on the Soundcloud page:

The Stoker soundtrack is available February 26th via Milan Records, and the film hits theaters March 1st.
