• When Music Meets Hollywood: Fincher Teams Up With Timberlake
Earlier this afternoon, some very exciting photos emerged of Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, and David Fincher having a grand old time on the set for the "Suit and Tie" video. The evidence confirmed that David and Justin will be working together again following The Social Network . There were some lingering concerns that Justin would not be able to top his elaborate Lyric video, but all of those worries should be put to rest now. In light of this high profile collaboration, lets take a look at some of the best music videos directed by Hollywood filmmakers.

    5. Madonna - Vogue by David Fincher

"Suit and Tie" wouldn't be the first time David Fincher has directed a music video for a major pop artist. In 1990 Madonna enlisted him to add visuals to her glamourous single "Vouge." The clip has served as an enduring example of the possibilities contained within the medium of the music video. Shot in all black and white, the classy and cutting edge look remains relevant even to this day.

    4. Beck - Guess I'm Doing Fine by Spike Jonze

When Beck released Sea Change, in 2002, it marked a vast change in his sound. Fortunately it ended up becoming one of his best received albums and was the recipient of many industry awards, including a nomination for Album of the Year. Spike Jonze, who was on his way to becoming the most in demand director of music videos, was enlisted to create a visual counterpart for the single "Guess I'm Doin' Fine." It was a stripped down and simple look that effectively matched the aesthetic of the music.

    3. Animal Collective - Applesauce by Gaspar Noe

Gaspar Noe has rightfully earned a reputation for being one of the most shocking and cutting edge directors in the industry. His films Irreversible and Enter The Void were loaded with mind bending visuals. This new video for Animal Collective's "Applesauce" is no exception. Playing with visual concepts that he has explored in the past, Gaspar concocted a video that is perfect for the song it expands upon.

    2. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under The Bridge by Gus Van Sant

If one Red Hot Chili Pepper song has transcended the band itself, it would be "Under The Bridge." Fresh off the release of their most critically accepted album, the Chili Peppers knew that the had a monster hit on their hands. Who better than Gus Van Sant to deliver an equally intimate visual for "Under The Bridge?" The song and video both serve as tributes to the city of Los Angeles. The dreamlike quality of the video owes itself to the lighting and transitions employed by Van Sant. Instant Classic.

    1. Public Enemy - Fight The Power by Spike Lee

"Fight The Power" was not the first long form music video, but it was one of the most explosive. With both artists at the top of their respective games following the release of Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing and Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet, the video proved to be a tour de force. Containing samples from all areas of the Civil Rights Movement, "Fight The Power" was crafted specifically for Spike, and he returned the favor with the epic visual. Perhaps it is the greatest artist director collaboration ever, mostly due to the fact that both parties worked extremely closely on it.

We're hyped to hear about this awesome news. Do you think Justin's video will stack up against the iconic collaborations listed above?
