Celebrating the release of their new CD
Shalosh on John Zorn's Tzadik label, New York City trio Rashanim treated the capacity crowd at Brooklyn's Zebulon to a blistering set of the band's blend of rock, jazz, klezmer, surf, and middle-eastern-influenced compositions. Lead by guitarist Jon Madof, Rashanim proved why they've proclaimed themselves "NYC's baddest Jewish power trio." The rhythmic section of Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz on bass guitar and Mathias Kunzli on drums gave the songs extra color, adding to the wide palette already painted by Madof's virtuosic playing. Rashanim's pure joy and energy make them an utter pleasure to see and hear live. -
