| Video games have a long musical history, from the MIDI tunes in old-skool Nintendo games (the Super Mario Bros suite is classic, ok?) to the use of popular songs in games like Grand Theft Auto. Today is a special day, though. Today is the day we learned that Made in Mexico, one of the hardest rocking bands on BaebleMusic.com, has a song on Guitar Hero II.
You cant fully appreciate Made in Mexicos fragmented guitar riffs until you try mimicking them with a miniature plastic Gibson SG in your hands. Its the indie-rock equivalent of Dance Dance Revolution, and trust us its hard.
Drummer Dare Matheson e-mailed us from the bands homebase in Providence, Rhode Island. We had a track in Guitar Hero 1, he explains, so we were able to put Yes, We Can in the sequel. I guess it adds some variety to the song list!
When you sandwich the danceable tune between Warrants Cherry Pie and an encore presentation of Free Bird, Matheson is definitely right. Can an indie band from Rhode Island make their mark on a videogame dominated by big bands like Lynyrd Skynrd and The Allman Bros? Yes, they can.
