Rising Swedish stars First Aid Kit
are continuing their meteoric rise to the top of the folk heap with a contribution to Third Man Records' Blue Series. The "Blue Series" is a series of 45s being released on the Jack White-run label from a variety of artists, and is so named because each release features a blue-background photo of the artist as its album art. First Aid Kit joins the likes of Laura Marling
and Wanda Jackson
, among many others, as contributors.
Their Blue Series release will have a cover of "Universal Soldier," first made famous in the 60s by Donovan, as its A-side, and a cover of the blues standard "It Hurts Me Too" as its B-side. The release will hit Third Man's store in Nashville and the internet on January 18th. In the meantime, check out their critically acclaimed debut album The Big Black and the Blue
and their single "Ghost Town," both out now.
We also had the privelage of shooting a CMJ Rockwood session with First Aid Kit, which will go live here sometime after the new year. In the meantime, you can check out pictures of their CMJ show at The Delancey here
