When covering a song from rock legends, especially ones as beloved as Led Zeppelin, you're bound to turn some heads. The source material must be handled delicately, but as an artist, you still have to put your own signature on it. Luckily, Trent Reznor
, Atticus Ross, and Karen O
were able to pull it off with their cover of Zeppelin III
's "Immigrant Song" for the upcoming David Fincher film The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
. We were given a preview of the soundtrack before
. Now, the Zep cover has been given a music video/trailer by Fincher himself.
The video features grainy, blue and black images of who knows what. The camera is zoomed in close making images hard to make out. The track itself propels forward with electronic drums, synths, and Karen O's primal yell. For someone who didn't even know the song, O does a pretty decent job trying to imitate Robert Plant. "I plead total ignorance to Led Zeppelin," she said. "I thought they said the 'The Pilgrim' song." Musical ignorance aside, (but seriously, you don't know Led Zeppelin? Come on.) this track and musical video are helping the film live up to the "it's the feel bad movie of the year" tag line. But whether feeling bad or good, this soundtrack, and hopefully movie as well, is going to rock. Check it out below.
