  • While you were busy looking for parking at the mall in order to elbow fellow shoppers for the latest watchamacallit, the world kept turning, things kept happening, and people kept quitting stuff. Let's talk about it!

    • John Frusciante is rumored to have quit the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The guitarist is said to have left been replaced already, although its still being labeled just a rumor, pending an official announcement. But so many sources have reported it as fact... it looks like he will no longer be hump-de-bumping. "Mentally, John checked out a long time ago. He's interested in doing his own thing, his own albums - the whole big rock band machinery just doesn't appeal to him anymore." [via 24-Bit]

    • Grizzly Bear is scoring the upcoming film Blue Valentine. "The Sundance Film Festival preview for Derek Cianfrance's Blue Valentine starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams has an interesting soundtrack connection of note." According to the notes on the film, GB is listed as providing "the music." Neat! They join the likes of Animal Collective, The Roots, and Moby in the ever growing trend of popular musicians trying their hand at film scores. [via The Playlist]

    • Flight Of The Conchords won't be returning for a third season. This presumably means that this years I Told You I Was Freaky is the last album from the comedy duo... but never say never. Business hours are over for now; the pair will not be making any more of their award winning HBO show of the same name. Good news for people who might think otherwise; "while the characters Bret and Jemaine will no longer be around, the real Bret and Jemaine will continue to exist." Whew! [via Pitchfork]

Look out world, its only a matter of time before 2009 quits the band! We'll keep you posted. In the meantime, we've got lots of things to do here, including Best Of Baeble, a few new shows, and show recaps. Good talk, see you out there. -joe puglisi
