For a band with such a negative sounding name, everything seems to be coming up roses for F*cked Up. Yesterday, Spin named their 78-minute punk odyssey, David Comes To Life, their album of the year. They put out a companion record for that, David's Town, on Record Store Day. Last night, they appeared on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations holiday special, alongside Norah Jones and Christopher Walken. (Don't know about you, but that last sentence just decided what I was doing tonight for me.) The band will release a split holiday 7" with Sloan, with F*cked Up contributing a cover of "Jingle Bells," which should be available for their 12/20 Toronto show where they will play David Comes To Life in it's entirety. Then, in February, the band will release a 12-inch called The Year Of The Tiger as part of their Chinese Zodiac series. Both releases' proceeds will go to charity. As if that wasn't enough, the band also found time to film a video for their latest single "Turn The Season."
The video is a single-shot exploration of a dance studio in Toronto. The band is there for a photo-shoot, but they are joined by a cast of characters. Children, dancers, photographers, and a creepy old man are all there doing their own respective things. The camera slowly paces around the room until it finds it's way back to front man Damien Abraham who notices something happening outside. Then, well, just watch and see. Check out "Turn The Season" below.
