When it came time to choosing the visuals for the first song to emerge from their upcoming album Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will, Mogwai chose to snag a clip for the upcoming documentary 30 Century Man. It's a film about James Bowthorpe, the current round-the-world champion cyclist who smashed the previous record by 20 days. The documentary was directed by Antony Crook; an artist who is responsible for the cover art of Mogwais upcoming album. Apparently he also had a copy of the bands demo while filming this part of his film in the isolated Norwegian countryside.
Says Crook, "We were so far north the sun never set. I wanted the film to somehow give a sense of what James had achieved and the idea of him being alone, somewhere wild and isolated".
It worked, and set to the cinematic sounds of "How to Be a Werewolf" provides a beautiful piece of audio-visual. Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will will be released Feb 15th via Sub Pop. - David Pitz
