These guys have been playing together for over three years, but 2009 proved to be their big break through, and it's not surprising. First, they got major attention at
SXSW, and then proceeded to clean up at
CMJ, not just for their beautiful harmony drenched music, but also for their tight, crystal clear performances. Recently signed to
French Kiss,
Local Natives will be officially releasing their self produced debut EP
Gorilla Manner on February 16th in the US. They are one of those bands that seems to be completely self contained; they live together, all contribute to songwriting, harmonies, and even create their own graphics and artwork. In fact the EP is named after the first house they shared together in Orange County, which earned the title "Gorilla Manner" for reasons I can only imagine. Hey, good music, good friends, good times, not too shabby of a biography. Unfortunately for us, the band is off to Europe for the next few months touring, but when they get back, we'll certainly be waiting with open arms. -
