Last night Nicki Minaj
stopped by Philly based radio station Power 99FM, and gave DJ Cosmic Kev the exclusive premiere of another track off of The Pinkprint
. "Big Daddy" features Meek Mil, one of two on the new album, and Mill's first track appearance since his release from jail. It's an extremely repetitive barely-there beat that's backed by what sounds like the backtrack to a haunted house tour, and Mill's contribution doesn't stand out either way. The mediocrity of the rest of it gives Minaj the perfect platform to flex her flow. While not as much fun as her characters Roman and Barbie, Nicki is just smooth.
The premiere was truly just a tease, the single hasn't dropped, and probably won't before the record is released next week. You can pre-order The Pinkprint
. Thus far "Only," featuring Drake and Lil' Wayne, is the new album's stand out track—we don't need to address the whole Nazi video, Minaj has since claimed ignorance and apologized
, and while I don't know how you get an arts education in NYC without a run down on the Holocaust, I'm willing to just move past it. The track trumps the top 40 bait like thelolz-racey "Anaconda"
and "Pill N' Potions."
