After a strong recommendation from a friend, I checked out neo-hippie jam band, Widespread Panic. The Athens, GA based band isn't a group of young hot dudes, but rather a seasoned collection of talented musicians including lead singer John Bell who, at times, can attack the mic with the same ferocity of Eddie Vedder.
They've been around since 1982, tickling fans with their energetic key heavy tracks, long Journey-like guitar solos, and bongo accents. The band hasn't been without their hardship. They lost founding member, Mike Houser to pancreatic cancer. However, have continued on with music to seamlessly fit in with blue grass music festivals or a long road trip.
