OBEY street artist and brand owner, Shepard Fairey pulled a fast one on us this weekend. Such is the nature of street art. English band Interpol
was in on this one though. The band collaborated with Fairey on the artwork for their 2004 album Antics
, and now on the exposure of a bonus track from their decade-long awaited record El Pintor
A fresh Fairey mural, inspired by the El Pintor
track "Everything Is Wrong," came with a blog post on the artist's site explaining how fans of the Interpol track might come upon a dark bonus track titled "What Is What." If you go to the band's site and enter the track title "Everything Is Wrong," you'll be granted a free download of that track, as well as the mural teased B-side. According to Fairey, the NYC mural examines "the idea of being complicit in a personal relationship or a relationship with a system that one realizes is unhealthy."
